Help for the Starbucks n00b

i dont think giving anyone at starbucks a tip just for taking an order for coffee and having to walk up to the counter and get my coffee myself to get a tip has ever even crossed my mind. Thats rediculous. Maybe if the employees brought my coffee to me...maybe id give a tip. No offence, thats just my personal opinion.

For a cup of joe, no. But regular everyday customers who get some exotic BS drink whilst you learn them by name, have their drink ready when they walk in the door, and give them above and beyond service everyday... yeah, a tip would be appropriate.

i havent seen all that great service at my local starschmuks. Im actually a normal person and refer to the sizes of my drinks like a normal person as well...yet i get crap every damn time about "oh sir...i think you mean (grande, vente. ect. While pointing at the correct cup and giving me a dirty look and a good "ugh"". Im not spanish, i dont refer to my drinks as one. I still dont understand why they like to be "different" when it comes to theyre cup sizes. I guess the world may never know the odd ways of starbucks...haha.

It's a marketing gimmick. Makes you remember to drink Starbucks. Ever gone to a fast food joint other than McD's and said "Supersize it"?
Same thing. It's a way to associate specific words with the Starbucks brand. People are sheep. SBUX isn't the first nor the last to exploit that fact.

He called them that because he said no one likes to order a "small" something.

yeah but see...at mcd's you dont necessarily have to say "supersize me"...but at SB's they always insist on you saying this "correct" cup size. This one time they actually made a customer say the cup size or they werent going to serve her...maybe the guy was just an ass though. Meh...

At your starbuck's maybe. I never have done that and never will and if I went anywhere and some worker talked to me like that, I'd tell them to go fruck themselves.

And ya never will, either.. BWAHAHAHA!!!

Nah, I just run it with perfection when I'm working. :o

Who else here is a Starbucks n00b too? I hope I'm not the only one :( I have a gift card I want to use, but I have no idea what to get or even how to order. I've only been once and I thought I'd try an espresso. I got a small shot in a big cup, so I thought I got ripped off :( I luff frappuccinos though  The vanilla is my favorite, I'm not too fond of that new strawberry thing they came out with though :(

I need help :( I feel so lost and confused. Teach me the ways of the coffee house, O wise Starbucks goers. Teach this lost, ignorant, coffee hungry wretch all there is to know. Please? :O

I need a Starbucks for Dummies book......... do they even make those?
HAHAHA...espressos are the worse :down....get a vanilla bean fraupaccino, theyre the best....or mocha...but whatever you do dont get the green tea one!!!*place thumbs down here, I ran out of smilie space, *place sad face here**

You mean getting a small shot in a big cup is normal? God, Starbucks sucks worse than I thought
Espresso is the nastiest crap ever. Its basically a cup of coffee compressed into a tiny shot...I know weird....and bitter

Espresso is actually quite good, coffee is alot like wine; you just have to really know what it is you're tasting and how to distinguish the flavors.

And no, that's not from a Starbucks lackey, that's from a guy who loves to sit in a street cafe in Europe and enjoy a cappuccino, a smoke, and a good conversation with friends. SBUX espresso sucks.

And the frappuccinos are just diabetes in a cup. Just more indication of how people in this country are fat sheep who get addicted to anything that "tastes so good". SBUX is catching up with McD's in that regard, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a documentary on the coffee giant ala "Supersize Me" in the near future.

It's just repetition, like any customer service job. It's easy. Lazy people that work there make it look hard.

My friend used to work there and he gave me free coffee.
I would just mix **** together and give it to the person.
