Help me color my Venom!

Okay, let me just bring some conclusion to this thread.

Third, thank you all SO MUCH for the critique! No matter how harsh, the one thing I need is people to tear my art apart, so I can put it back together more correctly the next time I try. I'm definitely going to remember a lot of the points made by everyone here, especially considering perspective, anatomy, and overall technique. You all made great points, keith_v, especially, what you said about being head level with the subject of the picture and backgrounds and lighting is really something I want to work on, so I owe you a lot.

Tearing it apart isn't really a good critique, but pointing out things that aren't working, and suggesting ways to help it is a good one, and I've seen that here. Too often I see a "it sucks" or "it rules" remark on other boards. I like that people would chime in to offer advice (and amused by a debate going on about the advice, lol).

No, the ruler debate is over, you lost. The new debate is how you said one thing and then came back and tried to act like that wasn't really what you said.

No i dont think i lost

Toxin said:
My personal opinion is that rulers and ruler-straight lines aren't completely necessary

But the fact that you're still going on about it still...even after the thread lay dormant for a few days, is kind of childish.

I mean big deal that your some kind of artist/graphic designer/you own a ruler or whatever.

I do art in my free time and I dont feel a ruler to be necessary. Neither does Toxin. He's going to use one to help him get into the flow of things with his art. So ineffect noone lost.

NOW FRIGGIN DROP IT!!!!!!!!

Why do you keep saying I'm a graphic designer? You're so ignorant.

I said artist/graphic designer which stands for (delete as apllicable)

Why does it make me ignorant if i dont know what you do for a living?like i care.

It's ignorant because you specifically said before that artists using a ruler sounds "more like graphic design." And you still think that way.

Did I say i think that way??

I said artist/graphic designer meaning you could be either.

You're just bringing things up purely to make yourself sound better so you can make people join your little debate. Grow up...i dont care whether you're an artist, graphic designer, architect or anything that requires drawing and rulers....hell i dont care if you even make god damn rulers....just give up dragging out a pointless arguement....the guy has his advice hes taken it all in....end of

that sounds more like graphic design than actual art...

i have done art since i was a young un and when ever i did buildings be it cottages, houses or even office buildings a ruler was never used and never needed.

it just looks too stick man and also if you start with a ruler straight line then draw over it with free hand then what is the purpose of the ruler line?its been drawn over?

I'm just pointing out how contradictory you keep being. If you don't want to continue this then stop responding.

I'm still with Geo on this one... Everything you've said so far to get us to stop responding, has been hypocritical. You've accused Geo and I of doing everything you have been doing.

So, yes, as Geo said- if you don't want to carry this out, stop responding, because you were and are wrong. 100%.

True story.

So I'm supposed to just stop responding whilst you lot just carrying on about it?

If he's stopped and I've stopped why do you have to continue it?

I do hate your Puffins.

And if I remember correctly, you didn't stop, and you're still not.

And, no, we wouldn't carry on with it if you would just quit.

The coloring and the lighting is very well done...Everything else...needs a little work. Nice stance, though.

Thank you very much, I'll pay a lot more attention to the "everything else" along with what was mentioned in the thread next time.

Colored pencil is the one medium thats almost exactly like photoshop coloring-You have to start flat and build up layers.
Heres an online tutorial I came across
http://www.creativespotlite.com/colored-pencil/king-cheeta.htm
I have several books,as well as many more marker rendering books,..I still ain't all that good!It takes a lot of Patience and practice. My suggestion=try working on less detailed drawings and "bring out" the detail with colored pencil.
