    Happy Thanksgiving, Guest!

Henry Golding in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins

I just see this as taking a character that's pretty much about physical action, and cast a pretty boy english dude when he's supposed to play playing a masked man. Or excluding that him and Tommy were soldiers, and that is where the brotherhood/ military relation happens. You change from Vietnam to Afghanistan/ Africa for the war stuff, Snake-eyes family is killed when he gets home, and he loses everything and goes to japan. Or him rescuing Scarlet on like the first Joe mission that goes bad. There is no excuse why they couldn't do that.

And Leo Howard (young Snake from the first film) could take over the role from Ray Park.

I just... Paramount, man... it's like a coin flip on whether a film they make is good or not.

Screw it, I'm gonna watch Double Dragon (1994) & make some shrimp tacos tonight. I'll catch Snakes on Paramount +, instead...

Lmao ouch, Double Dragon’s a rough watch. I dont even consider that a good bad movie.

Nice shoutout to Double Dragons. Me and my cousin loved that film. As well as 3 Ninjas, Surf Ninjas and pretty much any ninja related film form the 90s.

The last G.I. Joe movie was released back in 2013 and even though the 2nd one earned more worldwide, G.I. Joe is just not something you can reboot again for the movies and the audience will show up. The movie being a solo spin off doesn't help as well. I don't know why Paramount even greenlit this. They should have made G.I. Joe Three in 2014 or 15 instead with The Rock. The performance of this will definitely kill future G.I. Joe movies, if there are any in the works.

Even if this movie was released in a non-pandemic world, it would’ve bombed anyway - only with more money to bomb with. It’s opening weekend would likely be around 20 mill(give or take) and then it drops like a rock during its second weekend due to bad word-of-mouth and the fact audiences don’t find this to be a very good movie overall. So this film was DOA.

Most general audience would not know that "Snake eyes" was a part of GI Joe franchise.

Edit: Which is why in past Fox studios had the titles such as X Men Origins: Wolverine because they were not sure that general audience knew who Wolverine was.

So can we never hire Robert Schwentke ever again? At least not for studio blockbusters?
Honestly I was wondering why the heck did they give this to him. I think the last (and only honestly) movie he directed that I liked was Red. The 4 he’s made since are garbage. I mean damn the action scenes here are so darn poor, through not fault of the performers in front of the camera and the stunt team behind them. It’s all on the directing, cinematography and editing teams. Good lord the heck did they do this with Snake Eyes? It doesn’t help that the rest of the movie is a bore and Snake Eyes in name only.

Not seen the movie yet but why not give it to someone like Tim Miller or Julius Avery, directors that can actually do action and give it a little style at least.

Wow. I was thinking maybe $15M at worse. This didn’t even crack double digits.

Yeah with Terminator Dark Fate the action may have been a little too cgi heavy for my taste but at least you can see it all. I understand why The Bourne movies are the way they are and honestly love them for it but these other guys don’t know what they’re doing, and quite frankly I don’t like asian inspired martial arts action shot and edited like that. You would think the love for John Wick and the last few Mission Impossible films would help that register with these people. To me the best action film this year is still Nobody.

Chances are he was cheap, available, and said yes.
