Both are on board to write an episode. Roth should definatley prove interesting.

first, smith. and now roth. sounds really cool.

Don't know about Roth. If it's supposed to be scary then it'll probably be good.
Excited to see what Dougherty has, too.

Apparently John August is on board too. Read it on Herosite.

Same reaction from me man.

I absolutely HATE Hostel and consider it to be one of the worst films made, basically a snuff film made on hollywood values of no one really getting hurt.

But, the idea that he is involved interests me in what kind of hero could this guy possibly be a part of? Could it be an anti-hero along the lines of the Punisher or someone?

Seeing his work, I'm betting antihero.

=======================

I'm far more hyped for the other three: Dougherty, Smith and August.

Heroes characters don't generally act like superheroes, very few of them qualify as vigilantes, and usually only perform one or two heroic acts over the course of the season, and usually only for loved ones...

Yeah, dude I know that- I watch the show. :cwink:

Just don't know what kind of character he could/will deliver with since all I know him for is 'Hostel' which tells me he is a very dark and disturbing storyline driven storyteller/director... thus, I can only see his episode of Heroes being around the same- which translates to a Punisher, Wolverine, Batman type character.

Roth? Jesus Christ. Out of all the possible choices, why him?

Oh, okay cool... you'd be surprised.

If I were him, and that were my pedigree I wouldn't have a heroic character (Punisher, Wolverine, Batman type) at all, but a super-powered killer with a vendetta of some sort. Imagine V (from Vendetta) without the patriotism...

Deformed smart guys from Horror movies are scary, but a character who traps/stalks/interrogates people using a POWER could be even more scary, not only do you have this desperate situation where people don't know why they are being killed, but you have this incredible unexplainable event that gives room for epic storytelling, even if the whole episode takes place in a little room or house.

So a bad guy or anti-hero? Thought these were supposed to be some form of a hero- not a villain.

A criminal, yes... but I don't consider kidnappers, torturers and murderers to be "anti-heroes" or "bad guys" in real life, so I have trouble applying those concepts to heroes characters. Most of the characters on the show have only done one heroic thing ALL SEASON LONG. They're less like comic book heroes than the men in your local fire department or the volunteers at your local Boys and Girls club.

EDIT: Oh... I think I get what you're trying to say...

But, it's Eli Roth- the biggest WTF?! to approaching the topic, this guy does not do anything even remotely light.

There is also no way to make any of his villains into closely resembling heroes. I think the one guy that survives will be similar to what we might get... a guy who does whatever it takes to get the job done- and yeah, this world OBVIOUSLY has anti-heroes.

They should get Simon Pegg for this...that would be beyond awesome. :o

Simon Pegg or Edgar Wright? Wright is the writer/director, Pegg is the actor.

I'm very excited for this.

I liked the direction the Eil took in both Hostel. I haven't seen too much of the work Dougherty has done though.

I read on the bbc website today that once Origins finishes viewers will vote for which of roths's heroes they want in the main series :wow:

I heard that Roth's Heroes include a naked person and a person who tortures people for pleasure.
