He's The Secret Weapon... David Ayer IS the Director and Script Writer

Line up which one

I wonder if this will be connected. I rather it not be, because same universe schtick seems so restrictive to me.

Angela Bassett's Amanda Waller wasn't anything like the comic. And she was a scientist (how random). Arrow's Waller may be too skinny but she's got the personality down.
I hate to be so negative, but Amanda Waller is the worst acted role on Arrow in my opinion. She does these horribly timed dramatic pauses with every line she delivers. Hopefully she changes that **** up, because she was noticeably bad on Arrow, and everyone is generally very solid on that show.

The thing is, it's not like Cynthia Robinson is a bad actress, she's been good in other roles, she's just horrible as Amanda Waller imo. Overly dramatic, she over acts in that role.

Waller is a fat black woman. End of story, and my fanboy brain will not agree otherwise.

That's not even important to me, the weight. Arrow Waller is bad because of the acting. i can get behind a skinny or overweight Waller, but i prefer the latter.

CCH Pounder is so perfect for this role

Agreed that we need The Wall, not stereotypical eye candy.

The latest version of the Squad works pretty well; Deathstroke, Deadshot, Harley, Black Manta, though I'd replace Duela with Plastique. Captain Boomerang is another obvious choice, but I don't know how much retread they want between TV and film. Throw in some names like Bronze Tiger or Black Spider if they want to underscore the heightened circumstances by offing a couple of guys. Hell, toss in Rick Flag too.

yeah that lineup would be seriously amazing.

Waller
Deathstroke
Deadshot
Harley
Manta
Boomerang

sounds good to me

That's a fantastic choice. I considered Queen Latifah but this is a better choice. If not Spencer I REALLY want Uzo Aduba. They make her look bigger on OITNB.

And Jane Levy for Harley Quinn.

Queen Latifah would do great, and so would Mo'Nique if she gained some of that weight back. I also like Uzo for the role, she's someone I would have never considered on my own.

Edit: Oh yeah, and CCH Pounder would be magnificent. Agh, so many great choices for the Wall.

Count me among those for CCH Pounder as Waller.

As for the characters I'd like to see

Rick Flagg
Daedshot
Palstique
Vixen
Copperhead
Black Spider

From what I've seen of Ayer's work, he seems like a really good choice for this kind of project. As for who I'd put on the team:

-Amanda Waller (overall leader).
-Deathstroke (field leader).
-Deadshot.
-Harley Quinn.
-Killer Frost.
-Captain Boomerang.
-Bronze Tiger.
-Plastique.

Wow, great to hear WB is going ahead with the lower budget DC movies.

I want the real Amanda Waller. The Wall. Not Angela Bassett or the chick from "Spartacus". I want THE WALL.

THIS! The Arrow version put me off the show entirely and Bassett might as well have been name Scientist #2 since she was wasted. Then again, the GL/Arrow boys shouldn't be allowed within a 100 yds of the character.

Just give us Octavia Spencer as Waller or CCH Pounder, WB. No one (save for the man-children brigade in Johns, DiDio, and Lee) will get angry

It's the early stages but I have a hard time seeing this not turning out well. I think Ayer is a great fit for Suicide Squad. Could be wrong.

CCH Pounder as Amanda Waller
Ron Pearlman as Deathstroke
Sharlto Copley as Captain Boomerang
Timothy Olyphant as Deadshot
Jane Levy as Harley Quinn

Wow!

The hits keep coming for WB's/DCE with this news. I am looking forward to this one because I loved Ayers work on End of Watch, Training Day, and Harsh Times. I liked Street Kings also. Looking forward to Fury. I would love it to be a R film, but I doubt it will be. Most likely PG-13.

Deadshot and Deathstroke are musts for this IMO. Be nice if they add Harley and Cap Boom as well. Best news is that it sounds like the Suicide Squad film will be tied to the larger DCCU! Yeah baby!

Wait a second.....they are "rushing" it right? :oldrazz:

Excited about this news. Finally there might be a chance I can see Harley on the big screen.

This could be DC's "Guardians of the Galaxy".

Am I the only one that's against Harley's involvement in the Suicide Squad?

I suppose that they'll need at least ONE super recognizable face within the group to attract non-comic fans who may be familiar with the cartoons/games/animated movies, but I don't think that it'd kill the movie if they didn't do that.

They should spin the movie as an action/espionage drama instead of a straight up comic book film. That way, people won't be put off with a lineup of mostly unknown characters. People who didn't read the Hunger Games books weren't put off by the idea of not knowing who Katniss Everdeen was. Why can't the same apply to a B or C list comic character?

Aside from the Justice League and the Flash, this is the movie I have been waiting for! This could be their smaller budget DC movie that will knock it out of the park! And David Ayer? I'll buy the ticket now!

You're not the only one against Harley. The character just doesn't make a lick of sense in DCCU "grounded reality" scenario. What does an insane former psychiatrist be doing with a black ops team? And her weapon of choice is a giant mallet? Unless they retcon her to being a super spy / infiltrator / reconnaissance person, I don't buy her being in this version of the DCCU.

Deathstroke - Stephen Lang! Who else?
Deadshot - Timothy Olyphant - Great suggestion Rorschach!
The Wall? - Not even going to try and fan cast but CCH Pounder from animation to live action? Man that'd be mind blowing!:exp:
Captain Boomerang - As much as I'd like Sharlto Copley to be Digger, I'd like it better if an actual Australian plays him. So bring on Ben Mendelsohn.
Bronze Tiger and Black Spider are almost the same character - I'm not going to even try.

If Batman has been operating for a while in this universe then these people could have been operating and have been incarcerated at Belle Reeve by then. Just as long as this happens after the Justice League movie I'm good.

Just give it as low a budget as possible and make it good and it will be great. Make it so WB and David Ayer!:applaud

Ben mendlesohn would be a fantastic choice for captain boomerang

Why do you doubt it will be R? This is WB not Disney

I think the lineup should be different every movie (granted they do sequels)

Or what if they did like 3 separate Suicide Squad movies in one, like how "Sin City" had those different stories?

Octavia Spencer or Tarji P. Henson would both be great for Waller.

As for the squad itself, I'd say Deadshot, Harley, Manta, and King Shark would all be musts for me, though I don't really know who to cast as them.
