This is a great show, happy to hear we get more episodes!

I looking forward to the season 3 DVD coming out in three weeks. I ready to watch them again. :)

Saw this pic on Tumblr. Could possibly be a SPOILER.

Old Man Ragnar

Give him a floppy worn out hat, a walking stick, and an eyepatch and he l looks like Odin.

MGM's hit show Vikings has drawn millions of viewers into the fascinating and bloody world of legendary Norse hero Ragnar Lothbrok, who led Viking warriors to the British Isles and France. Covering the first three seasons of the series, this official companion book delves into the real history as well as the behind-the-scenes stories.

Viking historian Justin Pollard explains shipbuilding and navigation, Norse culture and religion, and the first encounters between Viking warriors and the kings of England and France. Interviews with cast and crew reveal the process of dramatising this gripping story, from reviving the Old Norse language to choreographing battle scenes and building ancient temples for human sacrifice. This spectacular package is a must for fans of the show and history buffs alike.

I hope we get more BTS stuff on the Season 3 DVD too.

I am so looking forward to get my blue rays of season 3 next week. I'm excited to see the episodes again and curious what got left out of the US broadcasts.

As for season 4 being longer, I'm glad for it though I'm hoping it's not too much longer (maybe a 12-14 episode season) since as people have pointed out shows can feel really stretched out when they try to have a single season's plot cover 20+ episodes. It also wears down the cast and crew.

It's 20 episodes for Season 4.

Clive Standen said recently at an interview they just shot 10 episodes and were taking a break then going back to Ireland to film the remaining 10 episodes.

Awesome! Season 3 felt too much of a build up and not with a proper conclusion, season 4 should make up for things.

HISTORY’S HIT DRAMA SERIES ‘VIKINGS’ RETURNS FOR
SEASON FOUR ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18 AT 10 PM ET/PT

Network Increases Original 16 Episode Order with Additional Four Episodes

New York, NY – December 17, 2015 – HISTORY’s hit drama series “Vikings” returns for a gripping fourth season led by Travis Fimmel, star of the upcoming film Warcraft, on Thursday, February 18 at 10 p.m. ET. The network has added four episodes to its initial 16 episode order. Beginning February 18, a new episode will air every Thursday for ten weeks with the remaining episodes to air later in the year.

Season three culminated with the extraordinary battle in Paris, where Ragnar (Fimmel) seized victory from the jaws of defeat – but still returns to Kattegat dangerously ill. Thoughts of his death galvanize the forces who seek to succeed him as king, including his wife Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) and his oldest son, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig). Meanwhile, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) continues power struggles with her calculating, former second in command, Kalf (Ben Robson); Rollo (Clive Standen) betrays his Vikings heritage by remaining in Frankia and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) is seized for his brutal actions to the Christian priest Athelstan.

Joining the stellar cast this season is Peter Franzén (The Gunman) as “King Harold Finehair,” a complex character who seeks to be King of Norway and a potential threat to Ragnar; Jasper Pääkkönen (Jet Trash) as “Halfdan The Black,” King Harold’s violent younger brother; and Dianne Doan (“Descendants”) as “Yidu,” a completely different character within the world of the Vikings who fascinates Ragnar.

“Vikings” is the critically acclaimed series from creator and sole writer Michael Hirst (Academy Award® winning film Elizabeth and the Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated series “The Tudors”) and is a family saga that tells the remarkable tales of the lives and epic adventures of the raiders and explorers of the Dark Ages.

Hirst serves as executive producer along with Morgan O’Sullivan of World 2000 (The Count of Monte Cristo; “The Tudors”), Sheila Hockin (“The Tudors,” “The Borgias”), John Weber of Take 5 Productions (“The Tudors,” “The Borgias”), Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and James Flynn (“The Tudors,” “The Borgias”). Jana Bennett and Arturo Interian are the executives in charge of production for HISTORY.

VIKINGS is an international Irish/Canadian co-production by World 2000 and Take 5 Productions. HISTORY broadcasts domestically in the U.S. MGM Television brought the series to the network and brings VIKINGS to the global audience, serving as the worldwide distributor outside of Ireland and Canada. VIKINGS is produced in association with Shaw Media, and the series also airs on HISTORY in Canada.

Despite how the last season ended, i'd be highly surprised if he didn't return...

I'm not debating his return, he's in the trailer so it's obvious he's back.

The pic I posted was from recent season 4 filming. He looks real old and quite worn down, that's why I said it's spoiler-ish.

Ragnar's transformation to Odin is progressing while Björn is looking like Ragnar season 2 wise. :P

I still can't get the queen's 'ear cutting right after giving birth' torture scene out of my head. Even though it wasn't overly graphic, her acting in the scene sold it.....

Oh yeaaaaah, I forgot all about that!

Jennie Jacques did a great job in that scene, but Linus Roache gave it a whole other dimension since it's so damned hard to pin down what Ecbert is going to do and why.

Also props to the Michael Hirst for giving context, as the scene shows the practice and how they justified it along with pointing out that it's not actually from the tradition they claim it is.

I can't wait for this show to come back. Having additional episodes is just gravy, especially given the first 3 seasons feel truncated in many way. I had my doubts about History Channel doing a show like this, but it really shocked me how it pulled me in.
