Hitman

Wow. All awesome. LOVE that they've gone back to the no bottomless pockets. I will miss the glove design from Absolution tho, idk, just love that style of glove.

Hey Pat, not to derail the convo to much, but with the new Hitman movie trailer being released today, and you being one of the biggest Hitman fans I've seen here for years, I wanted to know how you felt about it if you've seen any of the trailers already? I'm just curious because the plot seems to take from Absolution a bit, and I don't know the character's history much to know if it fits.

Eh the jury is still out. I'm not as excited as I should be for the film. One because the trailers seem to be a little more bombastic than I'd like and two, David Bateson isn't 47. To me and many other Hitman fans, Bateson is 47. No exceptions. I do think Rupert Friend will do a good job, but Bateson IS 47. I also wish the film had a style more similar to say John Wick. A small, personal story.

Still, I'm gonna see the film. The character is one of, if not my fav fictional character and in gonna support anything Hitman/47 related.

Also, and this is suuuuper nitpicky, but I hate how Friend isn't bald, they just shaved his head. Like 47 is a chrome dome. Gotta keep the chrome dome.

That movie looks like complete trash.

So there are some Closed Beta videos for the game on youtube. I won't post them because some of them have foul language from the commentators. But it does seem to look like more of the same. It's pre-alpha I believe so the game doesn't look like too much of an improvement.

Square Enix and Io Interactive released the first playthrough from its upcoming Hitman game at PAX Prime in Seattle.

The video focuses on the “core” experience of the Hitman series, which includes “creative stealth gameplay, disguises, hiding in plain sight and the choice and freedom of approach.”

You’ll see the Parisian “Showstopper” mission, which aims to give viewers insight into the game’s mechanics while not spoiling the game.

Hitman is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC first via download on December 8. New locations, missions, and hits will be released at regular intervals through 2016.

Amazon looked to have spilled the beans for how many missions will be part of "Season One."

EDIT: It's seven, don't know why that resized to be so damn tiny.

I kinda don't mind, based on what I had seen fro the Alpha builds, it didn't look to impressive for a Next-Gen Hitman. It just looked like a remastered version of Absolution DLC.

Shame about the delay but if it means a better game in the end, like Witcher 3, then that can only be a good thing. Everything looks great about this anyway, the last playthrough vid looked like proper Hitman, but at least there is plenty still coming this year to fill the gap.

That was a super early build. It wasn't even the Alpha build that some had gotten a chance to play, it was a prior build even to that. The level walkthrough they showed off at PAX was definitely not just a "remaster". The sheer size and density of the stage alone couldn't of run on last gen.

Heres the info graphic from that article. Really highlights the scale of this game.

Really promising stuff and can't be put off by the delay, means we get Hitman AND UC4 released on the same month. :mnm:

The new release date is March 11th, includes three locations (Paris, Sapienza and Marrakesh), and three being added post launch (Thailand, USA, Japan)

So wait, if the game comes out in March, does that mean that the extra content is also delayed? Because it doesn't make sense to pre-order the game now, and play it and then get the rest of the missions on the same day.

Then again, this is the same age as Day 1 DLC, so it just might work. It's definitely an interesting approach and I hope it works out because it could lead to a change in the industry.

Did you even look at the chart? Yes, it's all delayed. The rest of the content comes out April, May and June

Ah ok, I didn't see that part. I was focusing on the buying options. Its says the Upgrade pack is available in March, which is why I was confused.

This is so dumb. I get that they are experimenting with something new but they should just finish the game and release it when its done. Not a fan of releasing an incomplete product and finishing it up as they go along. Hopefully they stick to their intended schedule and I imagine the delay was bc they realized they couldnt with that original Dec date

The only thing I'm a little iffy on is they're basically releasing half a game and then a season pass, which is definitely cheaper in some sense, but it doesn't make sense to get the Trial for $35, and then half of that for $30.

I know the areas are bigger than Absolution, but that game had like what, 15-20 levels? This will have 6 main campaign missions, and then 3 additional ones later on? It would seem much more worth it if they were planning on releasing 3 more missions something later like in Oct, Nov, Dec, or at least some type of continual support for months to come.

I think maybe you're misunderstanding something here, because the second half has the same amount of stuff as the first half. It's only about $5 more to buy it that way, too. First release has three areas with six campaign missions, and the rest of the staggered release with have three areas with presumably the same amount of campaign missions.

I'm just trying to read the comparison and it says 6 campaign missions released upfront, but then it says new campaign missions to be released later. It doesn't look like they gave a number on it.

Personally, I don't mind buying the complete game on day one and waiting, but I just wonder what might happen with this type of model, where they release the first half on time, but then something happens and delays push the rest to 6 months later or something.
