The Superhero movie craze has been going on for nearly a decade now so lets do the math of how many of our favorite heroes are considered a success to fans and how many failed.

Successful
Blade
Spider-man 1
Spider-man 2
Batman Begins
Dark Knight
X-Men
X2
Iron Man
Watchmen

Failure
Blade 2
Blade 3
Spider-man 3
X3
Catwoman
Daredevil
Elektra
Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four ROTS
Ghost Rider
Superman Returns
Hulk
Incredible Hulk
Punisher
Punisher War Zone
Wolverine

So my ratio is 9/16, i may be missing some, and some films can be debatable. Im hoping that the upcoming Marvel Films will help even things out. What do you guys think?

I can't believe that The Incredible Hulk was a failure and Blade was a success, The Incredible Hulk was 10 times better than Blade, IMO.

Just cause you didn't like it-or lives up to your 'high' standards don't mean it was a failure...
A movie makes a profit that's NOT a failure in general. Your confused.

The Fantastic 4 movies, Blade 2 Spiderman 3 all made upwards of 100 million. So what they aren't art. The only true failure's you have there are Elektra, Catwoman.

You got any B.O. numbers to support this thread?

I think Blade 2 was a HUGELY enjoyable movie and a perfect sequel. The choise to film it in Europe makes it seem somehow more authentic as a vampire movie even if it was only for budget reasons.

the first blade was great too thisis what i want to see if they ever make a new one, A more street level adventure i loved the way he went to a little shop in the black neighbourhoods to get his serem it made blade more a character fromthe streets who happend to kill vampires.

Listing Watchmen as a success and Incredible Hulk as a failure proves that this list isn't about BO success

So if this is about movie quality, Blade 2 and Incredible Hulk belong under successes

Blade 2, Spider-Man 3, X3, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and Wolverine weren't considered failures in Hollywood at all.

The only reason why there isn't another Daredevil or FF movie coming out is because of all the backlash from those films, they were successful when they came out.

I don't think he's referring to Box Office, as Watchmen was a massive failure at the box office and he has it listed under successes

Good point, I didn't even notice that

The DD director's cut also has a lot of support.

Financially the only failures on either list are:

PWZ
Elektra
Catwoman
Watchmen

possibly Blade 3.. I don't remember the numbers

Why does the Crow always seem to be forgotten ? It was a great film and Brandon Lee was awesome in it imo.

Yeah this isnt box office, its all about opinions.

hate me, but I can't agree with you on that point. The Crow was a fairly decent movie, true. But to be honest, it got nothing on the Graphic Novel. Even Brandon Lee's performance - as enjoyable as it was - was a far cry from the raging and manic Eric of the comic book. Ironically enough, Vincent Perez' infamous performance in "The Crow: City Of Angels" was truer to the Eric character, than Lee's was.

That doesn't mean "The Crow" is a bad movie. I liked it, it was very enjoyable. But unlike many fans, I'm really looking forward to the Reboot in 2011. Especially since the director stated that he wants to make a movie that is much much closer to the comicbook. And I'm a really IN LOVE with the graphic novel, so that announcement had almost orgasmic proportions for me.

superman returns was more of a box office and critical success than watchmen. why is it on the failure list?

The Graphic novel was nothing special. The movie said what the graphic novel couldn't have, and Lees interpretation of the Crow was miles above the 80's hairband personification of the comics Crow...

i get the overall consensus that superman fans were more dissapointed with their film, then watchmen fans were.

Agreed. It didn't generate the numbers it had hoped but it did gross a profit. Critics loved it, fanboys hated it but I guess thats all that matters here, right?

Right on. Make your own list guys. This is just my opinion. Right now in my opinion only 9/25 superhero films in the past decade were a success.

i understand its your opinion, im just trying to get some clarity of it. and im pretty sure superman fanboys didnt generally hate SR. rather, the haters were just extremely vocal about it (hell, it's been 3 years and they still make every effort to complain about it). but if you go back and look at polls rating the film when it came out, it was rated fairly well on these boards.

hm thats interesting. I cant even talk about superman because i liked returns. Whenever i suggest that Singer deserves a shot at a sequel i get yelled at haha.

This list was based on what exactly

Personal preference ...Oh I see zzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzz ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

:whatever:

Who gives a flying **** about fanboys though :/ They are detrimental to any property anyway.

Because it's not so goody-good..? Sure, it's fun. A bit of fun. But..
