So I'm moving some boxes around this weekend, and find a "School Years" book from kidhood. In my kindergarten section, there's a drawing of a blue dude with an M on his front...some thinking and Wiki research later, I realize it's Mr. M of the Letter People! :wow:

It's a literacy TV series created in the 70's, featuring puppets assigned a specific letter. They were used in schools to help little ones learn of letters and the sounds each one made. The people each had their own characteristic that went along with their respective letter, with an introductory song...

..and a short story dealing with words that share the sound of their letter...

Perhaps I can thank Mr. M for helping me get where I am today, as a Mod of a Message board :awesome:

Did any of you have the Letter People in school?

"ABCD follow me..."

I remember that. Didn't watch it in school, but I remember watching at home when I was little.

I remember coloring pictures of these characters back in elementary school.

Other than M, Mr. T and Mr. S are the only others I recall. The others on Wiki's list aren't familiar.

I recall that Mr. S had a voice that sounded a lot like Marvin the Martian.

A show about sentient letters teaching children about letters. Seems kinda sinister.
