I cant decide wheter or not I should get a

2006 Honda Civic: http://www.myride.com/images/vehicle/2006/Honda/Civic/oem/06.civic.29_(400x300).jpg

Or a 2006 VW Jetta: http://www.autovade.com/guide/volkswagen/images/2006-volkswagen-jetta.jpg

I really like the jettas exterior look over the civics, but I think the civic has a way better interior. The civic also gets better gas milage and I think is a more reliable car. But on the downside if I get the civic then people will make fun of me for having a "ricey" car. Its so rediculous, I dont care what people think but theres nothing worse then having people make fun of the car you drive. Can anyone help me out? :csad:

VW Jetta. I've got one and it's the best car I've ever had. People won't make fun of you for having a Kraut car either.

VW engines are basically bomb proof. Clock well over 100,000 miles if looked after properly. The same can't be said for Japanese motors.

Now I know that's BS, I had a 98 Honda Civic and retired it after putting over 170,000.

The thing is, I suck at maintenance. I probably got the oil changed once every 10000 miles if that (I have a 140 mile commute daily). Drove it through snow, blizzard etc.

The only problem I ever had with the car was flat tires and my exhaust fell off every twice and that's because I never got my car washed in the winter when I lived in NY so the salt eroded it pretty frequently but once I moved to NC that car had no problem.

I don't know anything about VW though so i won't say anything but I would have words with anyone that says anything bad about Honda. I'd buy another one if I had the money :P

Well maybe you was lucky :D

But trust me, VW engines are some of the best out there, 10 x better than any Japanese motor on the market anyway.

I'd say a VW Jetta.........

I've been looking into a VW Passat myself ;)

Whaaa....?

Hondas have been considered the most reliable, long-lasting cars around for something like the last 20 years or so.

Plus, ask anyone who owns one of the newer Volkswagen Bugs how many problems they've had with it. There's a reason why that car isn't nearly as popular anymore as it used to be.

I don't know a lot about Jettas, but I'd still say the Civic is the best bet here in terms of reliability and long life.

Well the VW Bug/Beetle has always been ****e in my book. But trust me, VW engines are some of the best out there. The Bugatti Veyron has a VW engine, well, 4 engines :D

I love my 2000 Jetta. It's jet black, and I call it "Midnighter". Eventually, I'm gonna want to upgrade to a later model, but she does me just fine for now!

I would get the Civic. Honda is pretty reliable and practical.

My first car was a Honda. Made in 1989.

I got it used in 2003, and it held together pretty well until I drove it to pieces in 2006. Trust me, Hondas are pretty damn reliable. Also, you only have to worry about people saying your car is "ricey" if you put on an oversized spoiler, decals, and a wannabe-racer paint job. It's even worse when your car is at least 10 years old.

Yeah, true. Thanks for the input guys! I think I might get the civic

Here's the final argument that gives the Civic the advantage over the Jetta...

And where's the Jetta Transformer? Oh yeah, that's right -- there isn't one because VW refuses to let its cars be used for "war toys" anymore. Laaaaaaame.

I've known some people who said they had problems with VW's while I know quite a few people who have owned Honda's that have lasted years and years. Me, I'm a Toyota guy...everyone in my families have had Toyota's and they have lasted many years without problems.
