It does not mean she can not fight for the eventually to come Sequel

Good for her. Finally.

Maybe James should have taken a step back too, when he read the script.

James worked with these guys on 3 Movies. He obviously knows more about what goes on behind the scenes then we do & probably figured why bother. But damn James NOW IS THE TIME TO START fighting

Cumming didn't really have any suggestions for a new director though. "No. My mom? It's a really hard act to follow."

which only proves my point that, while some of the cast may like his skills, they dont like them as a person.

I think he knows you can't beat city hall. He simply is not a big enough star to pull that kind of stuff and get away with it.

That's why he did Superman. It was a much, MUCH better part. Richard White-a character that doesn't even exist in the comics-is given more respect in Superman Returns than the first X-Man and the team's leader got in 3 movies.

Pathetic.

I wonder if things would be different if Caviezal was cast instead

Definately. He's a much bigger star, and it would have showed.

Well,I don't know how much bigger he was before X1.Passion of the Christ definitely was a big boost to his career, but before then...?

Aside from that he's a pretty devout Catholic, and I don't know if he'd be very tolerant of Ian and Bryan.I'd like to think he's an open-minded person, but there might have been some conflict there.

Singer raped Cyclops by making him the lacky and boyscott of the team. Then Ratner raped him even worse in X3.

Yeah, Halle demanded a bigger role and got it because of her star power.

I don't know how good Caviezal would have been . . . It's hard to visualize his interacting with the rest of the cast (obviously) . . . I think Janssen and Marsden have great chemistry (at least off the screen), which I think would have greatly enhanced Scott's relationship with Jean had Marsden ever actually made it to the meatier/emotionally heavy part of their relationship via the Dark Phoenix saga.

Scott and Jean's relationship never got much exposition. It was just: they're dating and everythings cool until Logan shows up,and him being the cool star of the film tries to seduce her. It's not really clear why we should be rooting for Scott.

I doubt it.

Sad but true. :(

Box Office Mojo: What do you say to X-Men fans who wish Cyclops was featured more prominently in the series?

James Marsden: That's very nice. The X-Men universe has 15 different characters in a mythology that dates back to 1963 and it's easy to get lost in the mix. I wasn't really into comic books but when I got the role, I called some friends who were into comics and asked, 'what do I need to know about this guy?' and everybody said, he's the guy, he's the leader. But it's not Cyclops's story. I do feel lucky to have been a part of these really great movies.

What does he mean it isn't Cyclops' story? The only reason it wouldn't be, is because the writers are idiots and didn't follow the comics.

Cyclops has been around since 1963, Wolverine only since 1974.

yeah I know Wolverine is more popular, but that doesn't mean it isn't Cyclops' story any more than Wolverines.

This was already going on in two separate threads I believe...

It's the X-Men's story. Fine, make Logan the main character. But not give him EVERYONE'S story as well as his own.

Just like i said before the movie came out.. Mardsen saw both scripts and picked the better one. Fox the only thing you got going for yourself is 24.. stick with that. Don't continue to ruin the x-men.. i think marvel needs to get sony on it.

If Marsden was smart he would have been like Halle and asked for more stuff, he was more of a guy who seems to take the experience but not go the distance.
I blame any person that doesnt take their role in a production to heart, especially something like X-Men.
In the same way i blame Marsden for Cyclops, I blame Bruno and special effects people for not doing a phoenix. You either throw yourself into your work or you dont, Marsden should have taken the role more seriously, and not just have been glad to be in X-men
I don't think that's the point.Zak Penn said in an interview that the focus of the first two movies would be on Wolverine because Wolverine is the most popular X-Men character.I think this has more to do with the writers and the director. So simply put the writers ignored Cyclops and went straight to Wolverine because they feel he's the most popular character.I'm sure if they wanted to have more of Cyclops they would've approached him but they didn't.As I've said before Cyclops was doomed from the start.

I think Marsden means the trilogy in general... the trilogy in general, the X-Men in general, aren't Cyclops' stories. I don't think he means the Phoenix Saga specifically.

And before the Wolverine bash fests come in...

They aren't Wolverine's stories either, no, but Wolverine is the most recognizable X-Men character, period. It's only obvious he'd be the most prominant character in the movies.

And Cyclops had a very prominant role in X-Men.
