Justice League How about a CGI animated movie?

It doesn't go hand in hand at all. There can be a studio that can easily adapt a character and a studio that could not even know where to begin with the same character. I'd bet a lot of DC's characters would get at least a decent film if Marvel Studios was allowed to make movies of them.

With that said, if it doesn't take the place of a live action movie then sure. Give me both or just live-action.

Dont they already have those though? ive seen some of them on netflix there pretty good...but that would be silly to put one of them in threaters

I can't help but feel a Darkseid invasion would be kind of a rehash of The Avengers. If Justice League featured the Legion of Doom, it'd feel a lot more fresh...

Should DC/WB rethink their superhero movie strategy from live action to high budget animated movies?

There are 4 parts.

I love the idea of a CG animated movie!

I thought the into for the DCU online game by Blur Studios was pretty awesome at the time, but the new one for 'Infinite Crisis' just floored me!

The only practical problems I see with a CG animated movie are:

1. It can't be a theatrical release because it would compete with WB's live action releases.

2. The budget for a full length feature with this kind of CG quality would be cost prohibitive for anything other than a theatrical release.

So at this point it's 'back to square one' due to budget restrictions.

But:

1. As the cost of special effects and CGI goes down every year, this kind of a movie would be cost effective for a DTV release in a few years' time.

2. Going for an adaptation of something well known like 'Kingdom Come' would push it into a higher profile for audience interest, thereby making it a safer bet for WB.

I can already see the negative responses, but hear me out.

It would be awesome to see something like this in theaters. Take the animation up a few notches and you got yourself a badass theatrical movie.

Hire a team of competent writers, get some ace voice talent and you got yourself a good chance to make a great Justice League movie. Can you imagine the imagery and action if they made an animated League film? It would be off the scale awesome.

I posted some info in a thread.
I THINK BOTH NEEDS TO BE DONE BUT DEPENDS ON THE SUPERHERO,THE BACKGROUND,SETS ETC...

The smaller screen for live action(mini-series will be the best way)will be another way to go down the road more in the future too like animation.

Netflix wull be a great test for superheros mini-series shows.

I think a live action small screen mini-series for comics in long run will be better then long normal shows and some ways better then the movies or overall a better way to tell the stories.

Here is an example of live action in terms of looks and costumes etc.. that's closer to comics.

This superman and thor is closer to any thor or superman i seen so far in live action.
They need these guys to help Hollywood with superhero films and live normal tv normal shows.

Terrible idea.

DC animated universe is the place for things like that.

CGI animation - no thanks!

I want to see the real actors.

I think people have a block when it comes to animation. They automatically associate it with family/child stuff. Make the character models realistic and proportional to real life and write the hell out it. It could rock.

Wait, you want it animated, but the character and situations to look as realistic as possible? Then why don't you do it in Live-action?

No, i do not associate Animation with kids stuff, even though American animation tends to lean more towards the young demographic. Certain Pixar films have proven themselves to be better than whatever DC will give in the near future, and while i enjoyed Tintin, that particular kind of animation isn't one i like much, it worked in that film, but many others tried the same and they failed.

I do not want to see a CGI animation Justice League movie because i associate animation with childish stuff, it's because i don't think JL would fit that format very well. However, a tv show with CGI animation could work.

I have a theory, that the cost of a CGI production is so great that you need a larger demographic in order to get a satisfactory return on your investment. A darker production would warrant a TV-14/PG13 rating and would limit the number of people who would be interested in watching it. Note that a lot of the CGI animated films are for kids and families, which would make the age range from 6-49 years old. Not counting a violent video game, you make a more mature subject matter film using CGI and you limit the audience to a subset of that demographic.

WB is missing out not doing animated movies in general. There is a lot of money to be had in that section. Obviously they see that now with the Lego franchise, Storks, and Smallfoot.

I really have no doubt we see animated DC movies in the next 10 years (we are already seeing Lego Batman)

Animated Shazam, Metal Men, Teen Titans? Yes please. Hell animated Superman and Flash movie would easily work as well.
