How come there no real famous people in this movie?

How come there are no real famous people in this movie? Most of the characters aren't that famous in America.

I mean its not like DBZ is that well known in America. Instead we have Spike from Buffy and what's left of Ernie Hudson's career. That's not going to be able to sell this.

I never heard of Chatwin or Rossem before this, Masters is not that famous, doing guest star bits on Smallville doesn't make you a super star. Chow Yun Fat is famous in Asia, not America. The real world is a reality show, that's not real fame, that's lke saying Richard Hatch is famous.

Even the director doesn't have a proven track record. DBZ is not that well known in America, so how are they planning on selling this to general public, with no A-listers in the cast?

Well unless Fox hopes the Asian BO results will carry this movie by itself, that won't help. I bet Eriko Tamura is really famous in Japan, but that won't help here.

Most of those moves had famous people playing supporting roles or the villains (Wilhelm Dafoe, Sir Ian McKellen, Kevin Spacey, etc.) Plus most the actors you mentioned were movies based properties that were way more famous inAmerica than DBZ. This movie has no people who really famous in America, at all. Seriously they couldn't get one really famous person?

Just because a movie has A-list stars doesnt mean it will be a success.

Just look what happened to Street Fighter.

Worry more about the story of the movie than the fame of each actor.

I'm glad Justin Chatwin is playing Goku because he's an unknown that you would never see on the front of "Women Read This" magazine for getting drunk and cussing out somebody. Just deal with the movie not being filled with Tom Cruises and Steve Carrels (Even though he is funny).

No, I'm just thinking like a marketer. I could care less if someone famous or not is this film, but how are you supposed to market an unknown franchise to the general public with no famous people in it?

Seriously they can cast unknown in the title role, but they couldn't cast an A-lister as a villain or something? Or at least get a director with a better track record?

And who are these people going to play? Do you want Elijah Wood as Son Goku? Ian McKellen as Muten Roshi? Bradd Pitt as Piccolo? Angelina Jolie as Bulma? Will Smith as Mr. Popo?

Look at Lord of the Rings. They cast MANY people who were not A List actors. Most of the cast were New Zealanders, Austrailians, or lesser known actors. Who knew about about Dominic Monahan? Or Billy Boyd? Both of whom stole the scenes they were in. Who knew about Karl Urban or Orlando Bloom, who's careers were made by these films. I can count on my hand the actors who I had seen in films before it and I didn't know all their names (ie-Christopher Lee or John-Ryes Davis) but I know them now. So who knows, Dragonball might make their careers...or destroy them if it is bad.

OK, so you like Nick Cage and Toby McGuire in a single performance? That does not, a good actor, make. Plus, I really think Toby is a horrible under actor. He barely opens his mouth and has less expressions than Daniel Radcliff in the first 2 Harry Potter films. Of course, he could be like Cage and have dialogue that usually consists of "What? Really? No f***ing way!"

Also, just because you like them does not mean that my opinion of them suddenly becomes invalid. Everyone has an opinion and I don't claim to be any more right about their acting ability than you. Its subjective.
