How come there no real famous people in this movie?

And who are these people going to play? Do you want Elijah Wood as Son Goku? Ian McKellen as Muten Roshi? Bradd Pitt as Piccolo? Angelina Jolie as Bulma? Will Smith as Mr. Popo?

Look at Lord of the Rings. They cast MANY people who were not A List actors. Most of the cast were New Zealanders, Austrailians, or lesser known actors. Who knew about about Dominic Monahan? Or Billy Boyd? Both of whom stole the scenes they were in. Who knew about Karl Urban or Orlando Bloom, who's careers were made by these films. I can count on my hand the actors who I had seen in films before it and I didn't know all their names (ie-Christopher Lee or John-Ryes Davis) but I know them now. So who knows, Dragonball might make their careers...or destroy them if it is bad.

OK, so you like Nick Cage and Toby McGuire in a single performance? That does not, a good actor, make. Plus, I really think Toby is a horrible under actor. He barely opens his mouth and has less expressions than Daniel Radcliff in the first 2 Harry Potter films. Of course, he could be like Cage and have dialogue that usually consists of "What? Really? No f***ing way!"

Also, just because you like them does not mean that my opinion of them suddenly becomes invalid. Everyone has an opinion and I don't claim to be any more right about their acting ability than you. Its subjective.

Those were just examples of A-list actors, that can act and there tons of others. I'm not suggesting using those people in particular

I saying from Marketability perspective standpoint, having good A-list actors somewhere in a film that's based on a largely franchise often helps it.

ya, hes been in some pretty good/big movies. like pirates, bullet proof monk. and who can forget crouching tiger hidden dragon.

Perhaps they thought the story sells itself.

IMO it's so if the series does well it'll be easier to make more films as the actors most likely won't have obligations or become involved with other projects, plus inorder to get big actors they'll need big $ and just imagine if a slew of films are made, each time they'd have to increase an already large salary for each film for the A-listers and even those who're lesser known'll start to ask for equal or increased pay... most franchises usually cast little know actors, and as a result the stars often get big from the series (given the franchise is a hit) ex. X-Men (Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry) and Spiderman (Tobey McGuire)

A bunch of Americans know DBZ just none of 'em know these actors basically.
The 5 out of 50 thing is absolutely ridiculous. I agree with JP, you'd get around 30 if not more.
