Duke is in it so we should be ok.
Yeah, THAT solves everything.
Xenforo Cloud upgraded our forum to XenForo version 2.3.4. This update has created styling issues to our current templates.
Starting January 9th, site maintenance is ongoing until further notice, but please report any other issues you may experience so we can look into.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

I think the worst part of "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity" is that it doesn't mean anything. It's just a bunch of words that, when put together, barely convey the idea of something international that works globally. That's it. It doesn't soung anything like an Anti-Terrorism unit. It sounds like computer software, if anything.
However, regardless of it's poor name, I don't think that should be reason alone to condemn a movie.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you there. A much better name that still gives the anagram G.I.J.O.E. would be Global Initiative: Joint Operations Exercise (which would give GI: JOE). At least, it'd convey that the group is a small, test group on the potential applications of a unified anti-terrorist group, comprising counterterrorist agents from different countries. Another alternative would be Geneva Initiated Joint Operations Exercise, which would then tie the Joe unit under the U.N. (a plausible, pseudo-realistic possibility).
However, regardless of it's poor name, I don't think that should be reason alone to condemn a movie.
Yeah. That's better, but it's still pretty horible. As with the original, it could really mean anything.
No. But it's a reason to think that thw writers may not be the brightest bulbs in the bunch. Honestly, I don't see why they can't just be an anti-terrorism unit with the code name "G.I. Joe." They could just be named after the old, twelve inch dolls.
Actually, I think it should be pretty vague. Even in RAH, G.I. Joe was supposed to be a small coverts ops unit whose existence is supposed to be classified. Having a non-specific name gives it a partially decent cover group for which funds can be diverted into.
Duke is the biggest pud in G.I. Joe. I would much rather have a movie with Flint or Beachhead in charge. Even Hawk or Falcon would be better than Duke the puke. It's Hollywood, there gonna mess something up. Stick to cartoon/comic. that's Gijoe to us. Duke is in it so we should be ok.
GI Joe = American.
That's it. There is no discussion. If you think there is, you obviously missed the whole "A Real American Hero" part on the logo of all of your toys, comics, and cartoon.
or how about the Movie be called G. I. Joe but the actual team not have a name and only refered to as the team...."Muster the team...Cobra struck again"
I think in the cartoon they were refered to as the Joe Team
All i care is if they are gonna have Snake Eyes in it that guy was badass personified.
Actually, I LOVE Michael Wincott as Destro. Listen to that voice... Tell me you can't imagine him as Destro!
I'd prefer Gerard Butler. He can be huge, and has the scottish accent.
I just feel that Cobra Commander is a bit too high strung to be the head honcho.See... that's flawed. Cobra Commander is THE LEADER. Destro is a henchman, albeit an extremely valuable and important one.
Big +1 to everything the Question just said.
GI JOE has always been an American term.
I find it funny how you guys are always saying how G.I. Joe is strictly an American term while for the rest of the world (whose population would be higher than that of North America), there was nothing strictly 'American' about the G.I. Joe toys.
Sure, the phrase 'G.I. Joe' has become popularized in the U.S. becoming synonymous with American soldiers but the movie is about the toys and not about the phrase.
What came first the comics or the toys? I know BOTH came before the cartoon.
Larry Hama was a mastermind for the toys as well. He wrote the profiles and character bios for all the original toys.
So basically, Larry Hama was like the father of the modern GI JOE we all know and love.
