The Dark Knight Rises How could the Lazarus pits work in Nolan's final batfilm?

Is the Pit Nolan's reimagining of the Lazarus Pits?

So no chance on Neeson returning as Roger Ghoul?

If he is, it would be a huge plot twist, so Nolan is most likely going to keep it completley under wraps.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nolan had the only copy of that script that reveals Ra's locked inside his most secure anti-theft vest in a pocket directly above his heart.

I'm betting big portions of the script aren't written down at this point.
All in their heads.

Agreed. Nolan and Co. are like the CIA of the film industry. Super secretive.
Pfft, CIA. I bet they knock on his door every day going:

Hey Chris, Hey! Could you explain to us how to keep stuff secret? Also, is the ending of Inception real? We couldn't figure out.
It's like Bin Laden but soo much harder.

This realism argument has gone on too long/far. We are speaking of a movie in which a man is richer than Bill Gates, dresses as a bat, has uber-military experience, is able to fight off fifteen guys at a time, has villains who can create fear via hyper-LSD and promote mass chaos in a sophisticated city.

I know I'm missing points, but the idea stands.

Nolan - I think - isn't going for "guys this could really happen in our world," more so taking the stance of 'anything is possible.' The probability of a Batman existing on our world is slim - given all that Batman is. However, is it possible that a billionaire could train and create to such an extreme that he or she has the resources to aid the police - sure. But said person - more than likely - would be shot and killed within the first year of aid.

All of this going on about 'if he uses the pit like in the comics, it will diminish my loving of the realistic movies he brought us. . . " blah, blah, blah. It's nonsense.

So far you taken most - if not all - of what Nolan has thrown us as "teh-heh-kewl." Give me a break.

It just baffles me that I've spent the last couple of years on this site fighting against the realism police in the costume thread, trying to defend the classic costume from the position of realism, because every time I say 'screw realism' I got shot down, having it explained to me like a small child that "Nolan's universe is realistic"

And now that, for once, I am using the realism argument for why I don't find it believable that Nolan is suddenly going to introduce MAGIC, yes MAGIC, in a world that previously has had none, not because I don't want it, but because of all this time I have been reminded that Nolan is realistic, I am told that he isn't actually that realistic, that I am being the unreasonable one who hates the comics.

All because now it looks like that we might see the Lazarus Pit.

What does this tell me? That whatever Nolan does, or seems he is doing, goes. And that people can't seem to separate what they want from what is likely to happen.

No, no, Jak - no arguing your side, as in against it. I think both sides are whacked.

"Can't be done - not realzzzz." Has gone too far. And your reasoning.

I think Nolan will stay with what is probable and go from there. I also think his realism stance was to portray Batman - himself - then go from that stand point of what would/could happen, if a man dressed as a bat.

Further, we are a year away from the movie and haven't the slightest idea of what will REALLY happen. For all we know it could be an easter egg, a simply reference for fan boys. Or it's a tie-in to Bane, indicative of the blue flower for Crane.

I was more taking a stance on how people are soooooo ready to write the movie off, because of mere presumption. CLEARLY, the man has proven himself, taken this hero seriously, and has no intention to sully his name or the franchise.

I guess - my bottom line - I was thinking show some class, faith and patience, folks.

How many times? The principals that govern the Lazarus Pit are not magic, they are based in science. The speed at which they work is BS. Just like the microwave emitter is based in real science but how it is used is BS. And fear is entirely subjective and based on experiences from when we were children and drugs cannot induce hallucinations of them, paranoia, yes, phobias, no. Just explain the real science, put in some BS about how the speed is increased and hey presto a reality based Pit.

That 'BS' is called magic.

And your claim that drugs don't cause hallucinations is just baffling.

I bet it'll be used more like a spirtual baptism tank than anything else

A few days ago, a picture was posted from TDKR set, showing Bale with a gray streak in his hair. I doubt it is a sign of Bruce aging, becuase the rest of his body looks the same as in TDK.

I think, after getting beaten by Bane, he uses the Lazarus pits, and somehow, Ras is reborn INSIDE of Bruce. Remember, Ras had gray streaks in his hair too.

Or.... or... it's Gordon. Y'know, because he has grey streaks in his hair, too! I think you're on to something.

While I believe that those pictures showed Bale with grey hair, I think it's just him going grey naturally.

Just a theory. We already have confirmation of young Ras. Maybe it'll be some sort of internal struggle between Bruce and Ras or something? Idk.

Maybe it wouldn't be done in that manner. I don't know, I just saw a connection between Bruce and Ras with the gray streaks in their hair, and the Lazarus pits possibly being used on both of them. (Fixing Bruce's back, resurrecting Ras)

okay it was a dumb idea

Never said drugs do not cause hallucinations. I said they can't induce phobia centric hallucinations.

And if that BS is called magic then by my count Batman has/had:

Magic cape
Magic armor
Magic fighting capabilities
Develops magic weaponry for the army
Magic car
Magic building
Flipped a magic semi
Had a magical foe (Two-Face)
Turned millions of phones into magic sonar
Magic grapnel

Shall I go on? The rules can't apply for some things and not others.

I'm tired of explaining the difference.

I shouldn't have to explain why a magical pit that can keep a man alive for 600 years and make him young again after a single dip is different from a giant microwave that doesn't quite work the way it would in real life.

Believe whatever you want to believe, I guess.

If the Laz Pit is in the movie people should rest assured it probably won't deal with immortality.

"But.. is Ras al Ghul immortal? are his methods supernatural?"
Which was left ambiguous by Nolan because of his realism stance, but was included because it's part of the character.

Immortality isn't only a physical property.

Bruce exist, therefore Ra's exist.

He doesn't need a Laz Pit to have his ideals put into the world for hundreds of years.

The emitter doesn't just "not work quite how it should" it violates the laws of physics. Specifically how light travels, but that is for another discussion and regarding the Lazarus Pit I'm gonna quote my original response (spelling mistakes and all because iPhone spelling autocorrect is a *****) that people seem to refuse to accept.

"Every cell in your body contains your entire genetic code that describes you entirely. Now each if these cells has a protective case around it, like the bits on shoelaces. This is called Telomorase. Every time a cell divides you lose a little bit of it. Fortunately there is enough of it to grow you into a full human being and pass in your genes (about 20 years worth), however then your supply still gets depleted and you age and be one weaker, as apposed to when you became stronger when ageing up to your physical peak. If Telomorase can be introduced into the cells and cellular regeneration technologies can be mastered then humans can have indefinite lifespans. All you have to say is this is a place on earth where it can occur naturally. "

We just don't know how quickly it would work, it could be instantaneous or could take years either way, actually plausible, or breaks the laws of physics. And one is valued over the other in a supposedly realistic world.
