Were you born deaf?
Yes, did had some hearing in one ear but lost most of it later
Were you born deaf?
i'd think it's all about translation... same as spanish to english, french to japanese, etc...
they see words written, or in sign-language, or read lips, and translate it into how they know that particular word or phrase in their head, then translate it back to how they know to say it to you.
I hold by my statement.I'd rather know how blind people dream.
It's hard to dream when you have no precedents to refer to for images. If you're blind from birth, you have no clue what anything looks like. All the Time !

I think Morg likes Jay-Z... which goes to show that deaf people like crap music.
You don't know crap, I don't even know who the hell is Jay-Z,

His a Rapper who looks like a camel
I though most people knew deaf people listened to music by feeling the vibrations
Its well known Beethoven did!
actually feeling the vibrations, Beethoven used to lay on the floor to feel the notes he plays on the piano
Okay I know this is bizarre, but how does deaf peoples consciousness work, because I think it's true for most people, my consciousness tends to involve me using words in my head I.E me thinking "I wanna go make a sandwich", but someone who has been deaf from birth will never have developed the same language skills so how do they have the same thoughts or does their physical disability give them a mental disability keeping them in an almost infant state for their entire life?

Where's Speedball? I thought he mentioned his boyfriend being deaf. But I have a Sign Language teacher who is deaf. I could try asking her this?
Speedball sounds like me, but in reverse. I am deaf, whereas my boyfriend is not.
So. Being deaf. Yeah I actually pondered about the blind peoples' dreams, and I had an inkling that they don't have to dream visually, just any point of reference would do, since what they do and experience in real life translates to the subconsciousness.
Same with me. I'm not sure if I've actually had dreams of sounds, if I do, I pay little attention to them.
I was born deaf but I think the same thoughts as everyone else, except that to be blind, deaf, etc gives you a unique outlook on the world. It's part of who you are, I find.
And the other difference is that I may have some words I haven't pronounced properly, until someone corrects me and I do so. For instance, unfamiliar or unknown words or names.
oddly enough deaf people do dream in sounds, I do so we do have some concept for sounds and we can feel the sounds with our hands/fingers
