Everything looks very cliche to me so far and this has me worried, nothing has wowed because it all looks like stuff i've seen before, even the suitcase armour looks Transformers-esqe.

After reading the novelisation I am also fearing the worst as that didnt sound much good at all hope i'm wrong.

I gotto agree with Jamon here. A lot of the footage is redundant and looks like more of the same from the first film. No wonder Favreau was so keen on putting off IM3 to avoid the three-peat curse. I am not saying they should stray away from what made the first film work, but I just hope the movie has a different feel to it. Cheadle looks weaker than Howard in performance (in the brief footage we have) and Rockwell's talent seems to be vastly under utilized. Right now it looks like pure popcorn to me, but obviously the final product will speak for itself.

considering all the wows and omgs after early footage i think some stuff impressed alot of people. maybe you've all forgotten what seeing ironman and war machine verses drones was like the first time you saw it.

We have footage of him speaking about three sentences

C'mon, Tonie. I know you like to complain about things but this one is seriously ridiculous :oldrazz:

The footage of Iron Man 2 is quite underwhelming for me so far... well, except for the briefcase suit sequence. :D

But overall, this has me kinda worried. I'm keeping expectations low to avoid any dissapointments.

By the way, I loved the first Iron Man.

The only advantage the first film's previews had over this one as I see it is that it was a story we are all familiar with(the origin) so we kinda knew what to expect and were going along with our little fan charts to see how many original plot points and such survived the transition to screen(which to most of our delight was something like 80-90% comics correct). There was also the fact that it was something that we'd never seen before(Iron Man in live action). IM2 doesn't have those things going for it by definition. But I'd say that if I can divorce myself from the Iron Man fan that I've always been and just look at this as a general movie-goer would(who never heard of Iron Man before the 1st movie came out and still knows jack squat about his comics history or villains, etc.) then I'd say this looks like a much more amped up version of the first(but obvoiusly w/o wasting time on an origin story) that keeps the same tone as the first(which is good) and has more of a mystery surrounding just how it will all play out(also a good thing).

I'd say this has me about as excited as the first(well, probably slightly less since that was the culmination of decades of fanboy waiting) but as I said, that's just the nature of this thing. All in all, I fully expect this based on the previews to equal or top the first movie, quality-wise.

Everthing looks great to me. IM1 was really good and I'm expecting the same. I can't wait!:im:

Everything looks top notch to me. The suitcase armor and IM & WM battling the robot army pretty much sold it for me.

BTW, for the people who are complaining that War Machine looks like a B&W Iron Man, have any of you actually read the comics?

Wow I am kind of shocked at this sudden influx of doubt. I think what some people may be forgetting a major factor that made the first movie work: the character moments. The performances. These don't get shown in trailers.

If the quality of a movie is proportional to how many "wow" moments is trailer has then Wolverine and Transformers 2 would be the best movies ever.

The inclusion of how Stark didn't originally come up with the reactor thing is good, but now I don't think it's even okay to have Whiplash as the main baddie at all,he should be a side one instead. And the whole Expo thing with the drones and marks being showed off is kind of lame, but hopefully it'll sort of be like Robocop 2 with Cain near the end, being cool.

When you squeeze in a silly comment comparing War Machine being a black and white Iron Man like he is in the comics to the Spider-Man 3 treatment, people are going to call you out on it.
Okay...sorry...is everyone happy now? Can we finally move on?

I think the trailers for IM2 so far look great, and even better than the ones released for IM1. I like how Stark gets to react to a world who knows his secret identity, and how that makes him into a target on and off his armor (like when Whiplash attacks him when he was on the race track). Stark has a good competitor in Justin Hammer, who seems to be able able to match him in wits and resource. Of course, the addition of War Machine and Black Widow just push this to the top. Quite frankly, I'm not sure why there is some belief that IM2 isn't awesome enough from what we have been given. I mean, the suitcase Mark armor alone can guarantee a ticket from me already, and Favreau still have aces up his sleeves that he's not showing in the trailer (and I do believe Dynamo is that ace).

The main problem to sum it up is that more than a bit of the direction seems poor,it wouldn't be bad if it was a bit,but there is more than that.

Actually I didn't like the drone scene. It reminds of the Ultimate Alliance games, and those games suck.

Why the hell doe's this Stark is like a celeb because people know he's Iron Man angle in? I mean it's a stupid idea that won't lead to anything new,why why why? No taste. Given the somewhat lazy writing that is. It's not like when Spiderman 2 had that it was cool so that that idea had to be duplicated minus the flat out telling a bunch of people in person blah blah blah. I think Favreau was right about complaining even though he approved of some poop.

What the hell are you talking about? I guess he's a celebrity in the same way that Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are celebrities.

His identity has long been publically revealed in the comics, so I don't see why having it known in the movie is any big deal.

Just because that's how it went it doesn't mean it should be used as a piece of the movie, especially when it leads to nothing new or wowzers.

I'm starting to lose hope in Iron Man 2, sadly. I think it will still be good overall but I don't think it will be better than the first which sucks. I read the novelization of the film today and I wasn't impressed even after rewatching the clips and trailers to correlate the images with the book. I remember Favereau saying he felt rushed after the studio set a release date before the script was even started on. They also let Downey Jr influence the choice of screenwriter by letting his buddy, Tropic Thunder writer Justin Theroux write the script on his own and he didn't work on the first film at all I don't think...

The Dark Knight came out 2 months after the original Iron Man and the sequel to TDK isn't even in production for another 4 months or so...TDK also exploded the expectations carried over from the first film and carried on a cohesive theme that will also carry on to #3 obviously...I don't think IM2 will surpass expectations, but thats just me. I love Iron Man but ...they should of taken their time and used the formula from the first film...they rewrote and improvised the entire movie on set... Downey and Favereau basically rewrote the entire movie while filming and it definitely worked out for them..

But at least we've seen some pictures of the Thor cameo if your into the whole Norse God comic book hero appearing in a film thats grounded in "reality"...

Anyone else feel this way?...I lost the excitement I had for this film far before I read the novelization and reading it just set in the feeling that it wasn't going to be the tremendous 2nd film in a great trilogy...bc in comic book films it seems that they hit their stride and really go for it in the 2nd installment...doesn't seem like they did and if they did they let too much information leak...they should of held back Warmachine and let Whiplash garner all the marketing stuff and put the rest on what their doing now with all the different tech companies and the Stark Tech Fair or whatever it is....

I still can't wait to see it but it's not Spiderman 2, it's not TDK, it's not X2, it's not even the first Iron Man film...it's just...I don't know...I Hollywood sequel...Stark doesn't even look the same..he should of kept the longer hair and the goatee from the first movie...his goat is all thinned out and barely there and his hair just doesn't scream Stark to me anymore...the more I think about this film the more lackluster it seems...at least we get to see Rockwell, Downey and Rourke together..

Just that same annoying voice in that TV spot... what was the line when he is laying on the floor again? Not gonna overdo the viewings of the spots and clips to the point of memorization otherwise I'll find more ways to nitpick it. Just gave me those vibes, I mean was the guy playing Howard there or Rhodes? Nitpick of the forum maybe, but that **** was confusing.

I'm disappointed that it looks like more of the same. But if it's competent at replicating the first then I'll at least have a good time in the cinema.

Exactly, the first shot of War Machine wowed me, but since then, nothing has, someone mentioned the drones sequence, I just wasnt wowed by that at all, especially when it looked like IM and WM were in no danger at all, and from what I have heard this is the climactic action sequence.

I love character moments, dont get me wrong, but great action scene's are also a necessity in a super hero movie for me.

I don't know if it was in any of the trailers, but I HATE that stupid look on Cheadle's face when he is on the floor with the face plate flipped open. And in case if it's true and even though of course not all of it would be shown to us early,I don't like how all of the action seems to takes place in the second hour of the movie,I don't want to squirm in my seat or just become bored for a full hour straight almost. One can only handle talking in a comic book movie for so long.

I'm happy with everything that has been released so far. The Stark Expo scene; The Senate courtroom scene; The Monaco battle scene; the Mark IV vs. Mark II scene; the Drones chase scene; The Iron Man/War Machine VS. Drones scene... Everything looks awesome.

However, I am bummed out and a bit puzzled by the sudden wave of distrust towards this movie. From last trailer onwards, it appears Iron Man 2 went from the most expected movie of the year to a certain failure with a slight chance of being mildly entertaining.
