Transformers How do you guys feel at this point.......

Con air really, is a terrible movie when one looks back, Armegedon is another, he took one of the BEST movie title ever and ruined with a sub par plot and terrible acting.
I actually enjoy that movie for what it is, but it's not Bay's.

Well, I can't say that I'm positive at this point. I'd ratherspend my time watching Spider-man 3 at this point. That looks more promising of an agreeable time than Transformers.

I guess I have to just wait for the trailer since you guys are more knowledable than I am about our beloved robots.

I can understand the mixup. Con-air was Jerry Brukheimer produced and had a tinge of that mid 90's "crapolla" feel (tho it wasn't the worse of the bunch... thanks largely to the great cast). To his credit I would give Bruckheimer the award for most improved Hollywood person... starting with Black Hawk Down and culminating with Pirates. Funnily it pretty much coincided with him distancing himself from Michael Bay.

I have been a fan since I was 3 years old, I am 22 now, and I still love Transformers to death. Since they green lit this project 2 years ago, I was psyched, and after 2 years, seen the trailer, checking out all the Transformer pics, and seeing the cast, I still am. I pity those who say "my child hood is being raped!" that is just sad, it really is, I have seen many threads who bi+ch and moan that "this was not my Optimus Prime as a kid" boo hoo. I am a very open minded person and will judge this movie when I see it. I like Michael Bay, the Island is still one of my fav movies, and this will be a good movie. People can complain all they woant it doesn't matter. It just gets more and more annoying, and shows how sad and childish some people can really be.

For those who say, "Michael Bay deserves to die" "My child hood is being destroyed" "I hate this!" Do me a huge favor, put a plastic bag on your head and leave it there. You are a waste of space and air. I am a big fan of Transformers, but I'm not that pathetic to say that this movie will rape my childhood. This reminds of the Star Wars prequels, just a bunch of over weight and under weight nerds bi+ching all the time.

I find it hard to listen to someone call others childish and then go one to encourage those people to put plastic bags on their heads. You do realize this is a DISCUSSION forum, and every and all opinions are welcome. Ordering others to commit suicide because they do not share your opinion is not. :down

It's going to be a good movie, and it's fresh and something no one has seen before.

I hope you're using your future-predicting abilities for good. :woot:

How do I feel at this point? Great! Thanks for asking . . . no, seriously though, I'm pleased with what I know about this film, and em very excited for it.

I just got two of my questions answered by Roberto Orci on the official movie forum, that really made my day.

My questions were:

1. Does every robot in this film have an insignia on them, as far as You know?

2. By having the Transformers as technologically superior beings to humas, when we [the audience] see them transforming, will we be wowed not only by the awesome, realistic, and super-complex animation of this vista, but also by the "alien technology", which makes their transformation possible?

Roberto's replies were:

1.) Yes.

2.) For sure.

I've given up all hope of Transformers even being watchable. I hope it's not released or better yet, changes it's name to either Bionicles the Movie, Gobots the Movie or The Michael Bay Space Monster Movie.

As glad as I was that Peter Cullen was cast, this movie isn't Transformers.

I feel the same way Mother_Askani. Other than Cullen's voice, which I actually wasn't all super-gungh-ho about one way or the other, this movie doesn't seem to be Transformers in the slightest. But I'm still open to being surprised.

Looking forward to seeing the final product but keeping my mind open to its success or failure.

Don't know much about the transformers, but I personally loved the screenplay and the human element it had. That really grounded the movie for me. Made it more relatable because it was our world, rather than a fantasy world.

What was the difference between the human interaction in Transformers and the human interaction in ANY robot cartoon? Mazinger Z, Voltron, Robotech, Neon Genesis...hell, even Power Rangers has giant robots and humans. The difference in Transformers was that the Transformers were alive and the story focused on THEM instead of humans.

Well said.

What's more is that you sort of saw the human world through their eyes... which allowed the writing to make commentary without being preachy or overt. (human dependence on machines, oppression (Autobots on Cybertron enslaved by Decepticons), and environmental stuff, etc). Classic sci-fi. Too bad the movie is shaping up to actually be dumber than an afternoon kid's cartoon.
