Transformers I have no idea how I feel about this...

Based on all the reports, whats the point in calling the movie Transformers if your robots don't look or act like the characters in the source material?

Well, honestly, I liked teaser-trailer and Transformers' look.

The only think which I worry is script and movie as adaptation.

Bay isn't doing the f/x himself. With Spielberg producing you can be sure only the top names in the industry will be touching the post production f/x...I hate to say this...but...duh

You can't blame crappy CGI on the director of a film directly...Bay doesn't create the f/x.

As long as they make them actual characters in the movie and not just fodder for eye candy, then that will be the deciding factor. If you just see them as CG action setpieces that barely speak or have personalities, then yeah, that won't work. They can't just have them fighting and attacking, we need to see them discussing stuff, connecting with the humans, getting angry or jealous, plotting, etc.

Well said. We can only hope they have more lines than was suggested in the script reviews, since I don't want to watch a movie about the US military blowing up robots from outer space.

I was never a huge transformers fan when I was a kid...I watched the show sometimes and had a few of the toys, but nothing major...the trailer looks alright, for a serious attempt at doing this in live action anyway...and Michael Bay totally sucks...I dont know how I feel about this movie as a whole...the trailer seemed to be more of an alien invasion where the aliens happen to be robots thing than "there is a secret war going on between our cars" type thing...

Man! Oh man! I grew up with the transformers but I was against a live action movie thinking that'd be too silly and a waste of money!
But now after seeing it ,I can't wait
I can't wait to see my favorite transformer in action (the first megatron).

*sigh* You still don't understand.

Watch Transformers: The Movie and you'll see how the audience can care about the characters. The focus merely on the machines themselves, Spike and Daniel don't get a lot of screentime at all.

When Optimus Prime dies in the film you feel for the characters, you feel for him, and you feel just as they feel losing a leader.

Read the comics, watch the cartoons, and watch the animated movie to see what I'm trying to explain to you. They can make an audience care for the characters with good writing, great voice acting, and a great director who can bring out the necessary emotions.

First, you don´t have to explain me anything.
Second, you missed the point of my post.

The movie is about giant robots.....
No matter how human you make them be or dramatic you make the movie, they are still giant robots to the average joe, and they will not care if a robot lives or dies.
