Transformers How do you guys feel at this point.......

Well said.

What's more is that you sort of saw the human world through their eyes... which allowed the writing to make commentary without being preachy or overt. (human dependence on machines, oppression (Autobots on Cybertron enslaved by Decepticons), and environmental stuff, etc). Classic sci-fi. Too bad the movie is shaping up to actually be dumber than an afternoon kid's cartoon.[/QUOTE]

 seriously?????

That remains to be seen, although I do agree with you CFlash. The perspective of the TF's was a unique one at that. The human element was just a side thing. However this is coming from someone that reads the pre-earth comics religiously.

I've watched Transformers as a kid just like most of you have, but I really didn't follow it so I'm nothing close to an expert. So, now that the movie is coming out I want to know are the majority of you guys really excited about it, or worried? I see there is a lot of human interaction going on, and from what I remember at least from the cartoon the only humans I can recall are spike and his dad.

Are they even in the film? Is Micheal Bay the right director, are you happy with the script?
I've always been a huge fan of Transformers since I was a kid. As I got older I have grown to respect Transformers even more because the story is compelling. I'm excited to see a live action Tranformers movie, but I'm not over hyped for it. I really wish they (Paramount) could hire a director that has a real passion for Transformers instead of getting a director who was only going to do this movie if the paycheck met his expectations. I'm not trying to disrespect Bay and he might deliver a great movie in his vision, but I'm not feeling the love. LOL :woot:

Same here, I'm not getting any Transformer type vibe from anything I've seen...I'm pretty much just looking forward to the effects and hearing Cullen on the big screen again. Everything leaked out seems pretty generic. But hopefully he'll deliver that great movie you're talking about.

I feel like a Star Wars fan after finding out Jar Jar is going to be a main character in the prequels.

I feel like A LOTR fan after finding out Peter Jackson will be replaced by Uwe Boll for the Hobbit.

Which is exactly why I wont make the same mistake going to see this movie with high expectations (only a kick arse trailer can change my mind, but it would have to be mind blowing)

Don't worry fellas. Spielberg will turn this train wreck around. Keep hope alive.

I heard that Jackson wouldn't be doing the Hobbit movie but, that rumour about him being replaced by Uwe can't be true. It it is then we should send New Line Cinema hate mail for the rest of our lives.:cmad:

i think he already has.....

i hope the trailer takes the movie seriously... and not show all the jokes in the movie or something. the tone from the teaser should be kept.

I wish Spielberg was directing. Then we could have more Toasterformers. :word:

I am REALLY looking forward to the film. I think it'll be great and a fine addition to the Transformers alternate tellings.

As a big Transformer fan from the beginning, what I've seen, heard and read thus far leaves me very disapointed.

Transformers 2007 will be Godzilla 98.

Utter crap.

I feel like this was a missed opportunity. These robots DO NOT look anything like the Transformers I grew up with. They look like...morpho-bots. I personally am not looking forward to seeing these robots on the big screen and being called Transformers; however, I am a bit excited about hearing Peter Cullen's voice again. Everything else I have seen is just...DISAPPOINTING. The robots are too...complicated to really be Transformers. I do not see the FACES of the robots I love. I see cyborgs.

This Transformers movie is shaping up to be another Elektra, Catwoman, or Hulk Fiasco! YUCK!

Bottom Line... I WONT be there opening Night.

I'm optimistic. I've liked what we have heard of the story. I like the designs. I'am happy that Peter Cullen is coming back, as well as possibly Frank Welker. I'm sorry, but I think that it is pretty obvious that the only way some TF fans would be happy would be if the film was a live-action renactment of the More than meets the Eye" miniseries from the cartoon, or the first four issues of the comics.

Not true at all. Not for me anyway. I just want to see a sci-fi movie that can go down as an instant classic worthy of the Transformers name... not some popcorn fluff piece.

But I still think that is how quite a few fans think. Part of the problem is that people are still looking at this film from "based on G1" perspective.

For good reason. After all, if you're going to make a movie with characters whose names are Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and throw in "the kid getting a car" story, then you're talking G1.

You make a valid point. Personally, I view this Transformers movie as another incarnation of the franchise, which uses G1 as it's primary template, but also takes element from the other versions.

A lot of us have been following this film even before the rumors of a film even started (how that makes sense is a mystery to me but I'm kinda drunk) and when Don "the insane person" Murphy stated state that the movie will be pretty much G1...all of us went insane with joy (his insanity's contagious btw). Then slowly him and the production started dropping disappointment bombs. Our last true "victory" was Peter Cullen getting hired to voice Prime.

Elements from other versions perhaps... But, also elements from Gobots (monster-like bad guys), Bionicle (their robot modes), and the classic b-movie Invaders from Mars. Cool. But that's not Transformers.

I also have been following the film since day one. I was happy when Murphy said that the film was going to be based on G1. In fact, I think that Tom DeSanto and him originally intended it to be, but as more people came on board, it started to deviate from that. I was also disappointed when some of the early rumors started to appear, but then the production team said that it wouldn't be based solely on G1, and I accepted that this was another new incarnation of Transformers that used G1 as it's primary template, but also acknowledged the other incarnations of the franchise. Which is why I think that I have been more open to the designs and story. I think that if people started to accept that, they would be fine.

when you keep saying 'bionicle' over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again are you referring to legos?
