I know you can make a case either way for the "Tatooine robe" Jedi look. Ok, maybe Jedi just dressed like the "common" people of the galaxy, whatever. I mean, old Anakin is dressed like Obi-Wan, why does he revert to that costume in the afterlife? Dunno.
Luke's costume at Jabba's Palace is basically just a dark, sleeker version of what he was wearing on Cloud City... with the addition of the kimono-like robe part (and cloak). And that's all I think that matters; the Jedi look (in general) just needs to feature some aspect of Japanese/Samurai/Medieval Knight/cloaked figure. I think Obi-Wan and Anakin wore something that was specific to a Tatooine Jedi. I think maybe the prequel costume designers just got lazy and made it the garb of the majority of Jedi, when it should have been a unique variation on a similar theme. I also thought there should have been two types of Jedi costumes: something closer to Luke's for the more action-oriented Jedi Knight, and the longer, flowing, robe look for the more spiritual, monk-like Masters.
