Hey, all.

I've been a fan of films in general for as long as I can remember (hence the name), and while I find many of them to be entertaining and fun, there's always a few that make me think, or affect me on a mental or emotional level. I remember seeing films like "Star Wars", "Back to the Future", and "Superman" as a kid, and almost becoming enveloped by the characters and stories I saw on-screen. Movies became a place of escape for me, and I suspect for many of you as well. I've probably learned more from films in the last decade than I did in my last few years of school, and many of them have truly inspired me. I recently took up screenwriting as a hobby, and I'm hoping that someday, my work will serve to inspire at least one person, the way past films have done for me.

So, my questions to the entire SuperHeroHype community are these: how have movies changed your life? Has it been for the better or worse, and why? What types of stories and characters truly reach you in a personal way? And, do you have any ideas for passing those aspects on to future generations?

in short... yes.

this should be in the movie forum.

Not really, because it doesn't deal with the content of film, so much as the impact. But just in case, I'll post a duplicate in that section.

I'm not worshipping movies, Wilhelm; I've simply been inspired by some of them, and I'm curious whether anyone else would like to share similar experiences.

Movies have indeed changed my life. It is my life. Ever since I was five, films like "Star Wars" and "Jaws" and "Jurassic Park" to the introduction of Batman and Spider-Man changed me into the person I am today. Filmmakers like Spielberg and Lucas were the first for me to witness. And they remain my favorite filmmakers. They've both just inspired me. Becuase of them, and other filmmakers like Jackson, made me want to become a filmmaker since I was 13. Today, film has continued to inspire me to keep wanting to make movies. I'm introduced to new and great films all the time that changes my perception at how I look at films. And I love that. I love finding new and great films that I can rave about and look to saying, "I hope I can make a movie like that someday." One of my hobbies is also screenwriting. And I love that.

To me, my idea of fun or enjoyment is sitting down and feeling the keyboard underneath my fingers as I type a screenplay that I thought up. I just love using my imagination. Same goes for film. I enjoy watching film, drawing, and writing. No sports, no music, no video games. Film is different from those other media. They don't make you think. You watch a sports game. Yeah, your team won or lost, and that's it. You might talk about with your friends the next day until the next one. Videogames, when we beat it, we just replay it or move onto something new. And music, the song is good and you listen to it. But with film, after watching a film, you think. You're filled with emotions. There are characters, people like you in situations in places where only your dreams can go. But your dreams are in front of you on the screen. Anyways, I have much, much more to say. But that could take hours for me to type up. But from reading this I hope you will understand, that even though it's not real, it's not impossible. Your dreams and fantasy's aren't far away. All you have to do is pop in a movie.

Wilhelm, that's not the sort of thing I'm talking about, and I think you know that. Let's try and keep this thread on-topic; I didn't post it to create a "let's bash people because we feel like it" thread.

Well, if it weren't for movies, I likely wouldn't have been in my current profession, hoping to build up to movies some day.

So yeah, I'd say that movies have changed my life quite drastically.

Moving Pictures are swell. :)

I've already posted a duplicate of this thread at that location.

you shouldn't post a duplicate thread because if this thread is in the wrong section it could be moved.

movies definately changed my life because i spend alot of my money on dvds , its like a nasty drug habit.

They haven't changed it in a drastic way, but they've definitely entertained me.
