How I Met Your Mother

I miss it. Lately, the only shows around are centered on death (CSIs, Law and Orders, etc..). I remember sitting down with my family and watching TGIF. Those were the days...

and those shows pull in 12-15 million viewers a week....the people that were forced to sit through those awful sitcoms grew up and now watch other things

that was a much simpler time. I used to watch the show every Tuesday night (I remember it being on Tuesdays when the show finished). Although the series finale was a disappointment. I thought something big would happen like Joey moving out or the whole Tanner family moving somewhere. Not stupid Michelle losing her memory so they have an excuse to show both Olsen twins...:csad:

Yeah, the finale sucked, but at least Steve came back :csad:

It's called progress....the era of the wholesome family sitcom is dead....and I for one am happy that it is

Exactly. I think that's why I liked Worst Week. It wasn't as mean spirited as some recent sitcoms. It had a lot of heart. Its too bad CBS won't be renewing it (because apparently 8 million viewers a week is low).

That was the ending? That was dumb.

for CBS it is....:whatever:

Once this show is over I wouldn't mind seeing a "How I Met Your Father" with new characters.

The writers are at Disney Channel or writing Broadway plays now.

It is low when its lead in has 15 million viewers. CBS replaced it with a show that has higher ratings.

Worst Week was good but after a while it felt like Meet the Parents and not in a good way. How many times can this guy screw up and upset his in-laws?

the only real sticoms I watch are The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, and 30 Rock. I don't think The Office counts since it's a mockumentary style. Either way, the shows on now are nothing like we had in the 80s and 90s. :csad:

They only seem better because you didn't have any base to compare them to

One bit of older TV that is still funny to me is the Dick Van Dyke show....I catch it on TV Land occasionally and it's still good

i'd call the office a sit-com. it's mostly scripted with a few adlibs. the look maybe be different but it's just like those other shows.

would the show even be funny without barney? i think not.

and they are funny every time....that's why Barney is awesome....Marshall is my second favorite...

Barney is a stale Character . He says the same Jokes every episodes. Marshall to me is the funniest character

he's not stale. he's kinda like kramer meets chandler. always ready with a zinger or ready to do something redonkulous:woot:

I think Barney and Marshall together are funnier then Barney and Ted. They are total opposites.

Ted is the straight man to Barney and Marshall's crazy antics.

I think we need to have an intervention to end this conversation :cwink:

According to Entertainment Weekly, "The 'How I Met Your Mother' boys lend their voices" to the Family Guy season finale May 17 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
It's a return visit.

Barney and Marshall are only total opposites in terms of relationships, but their sense of humor and pranks are pretty much the same. All you have to do is look at their sense at GNB to see that. Sure Marshall is very committed to Lily and is very happy with her, but he still has that juvinielle sense of humor.

they all have juvenile senses of humor. we just see more of it from barney and marshall

Man, that was such a fake out. :cmad:

All I can think of is that "The Wedding Bride," (which clearly has something to do with Ted based on the poster) is some how linked to Ted meeting the mother.

Lily coming back was great though.

I thought they were going to use Lily coming back as a way for Robin to hear the joke and leave. :hehe:
