How I Met Your Mother

I still love the show. It is one of the best show's on air right now, I think.

Between this, Chuck, and Rules of Engagement (Huge Tom Warburton and David Spade fan) Mondays are by far my favorite night for TV.

Oh, and House is on them now too. Awesome.

In a recent interview one of the creators said he would like to do another 4 seasons of the show. That would bring it to 8 seasons total. I'd be fine with 2 more.

And Karen will be sticking around for another 4 episodes.

Okay turns out Karen is around for just one more episode. Ausiello at EW.com admitted his mistake and said she's only around for one more.

Question: It seems like you have something against giving out How I Met
Your Mother scoops, but I'll take my chances, anyway. Any scoop you can reveal? --Andrea

Ausiello: I have nothing against giving out HIMYM scoop, Andrea, it's actually you I have something against. Nonetheless, I will tell you that Alyson Hannigan finally left for maternity leave last week. And not a moment too soon. "She is not a big person to begin with, [so she is literally] now half baby," laughs EP Carter Bays. "Even if we had the option to keep her around, it would be comically difficult to hide that growing child inside her." Luckily, despite her maternity leave, she won't be left out of the show for too long. "We have a funny way to cross her out for a few episodes," teases Bays, "and we shot some of her scenes in advance."

Question: Got anything on How I Met Your Mother? --Luke

Ausiello: How ironic would it be if, after spending the entire season hiding Alyson Hannigan's pregnancy, HIMYM producers ended the season by making Lily pregnant! Pretty ironic, right? Well, guess what -- it just might happen! "It's a distinct possibility," says EP Carter Bays. "On the one hand, there are a lot of funny baby stories just waiting to be told. But on the other hand, that could mean the end of all the stories we could tell at the bar. You kind of have to reach the point where it's like, "Alright, there are no more stories to tell in the bar, so it's time to start telling baby stories." So, I guess the question is, Is HIMYM at that point yet? Sounds like more mass debate (tee-hee) fodder for the comments section.

Question: Okay, after watching Laura Prepon's annoying Karen nearly ruin an otherwise outstanding episode of HIMYM last Monday, I'm left wondering how long we have to put up with her. --Steve

Ausiello: Maybe we were watching different shows, because I thought Laura's Karen was a riot. But you'll be pleased to hear that her arc will come to an end after just one more episode. (Some ignoramus originally reported that she was booked for five episodes, which couldn't have been farther from the truth. Nothing pisses me off more than sloppy journalism.)

How I Met Your Mother should learn from the mistakes Friends made.
Joey + Rachel was a terrible idea. Robin + Barney is a terrible idea.
Rachel + Ross having a baby was a terrible idea. You know the rest.

I just want the mother to be revealed already. Maybe the next few seasons could be showing their courtship...

damn....:csad: but it was great seeing prepon on television again.

She was still annoying though....I figured she'd learn after the failure of October Road that she's a one trick pony as an actress

If they did 4 more seasons though we'd get to the point where Ted's kids would be born. You figure he's telling the stories in 2030, right? The kids look to be around their mid teens, let's just say the oldest is 16. Four seasons down the road is 2013, when Ted's wife would need to get pregnant to have a 16 year old in 2030.

I don't watch this regularly....is there any hint as to who the 'mother' might be?

Is that the prevailing opinion? 'Cause I think Barney and Robin getting together would be awesome. That episode where Robin was Barney's substitute bro was great, so I figure a relationship between them would be like that with less hitting on other girls and more laser tag. ;)

Oh, and I'm finally fully caught up on the show.

Barney and Robin is like Monica and Chandler. I'm all for it, I've enjoyed seeing Barney's reactions to Robin this season.

I don't think they're particularly like any Friends couple, personally. Barney's pretty clearly got some long-standing emotional issues, and Robin's the kind of girl who could potentially like him for both his current self and his earlier, sappy, keyboard-playing, tree-hugging self. They share, like, all the same interests, too. It works for me.

Ok. Fill in the blanks. Guy A and Girl A have a courtship that has everyone wanting them to get together. They finally do and everyone is happy. They break up and people still hope they will get back together. However, Guy B, the show's resident lothario, takes up an interest in Girl A (against the very nature of his character).
Guy A is Ross or Ted; Girl A is Rachel and Robin; and Guy B is Joey and Barney. It's the same plot.
Barney and Robin are not like Monica and Chandler.

I don't know. Maybe if you watched all 3+ seasons really quickly you aren't as invested in Ted and Robin's relationship. But if you watched them in real time, it's a different story.

The show says that she's not the mother... she's not the mother. They're not Ross and Rachel... cause they are Ted and Robin. Two completely different characters from the Friends ones.

Maybe I'm just immune to this whole "soul mate" idea. I didn't give a f*** whether Rachel and Ross stayed together in Friends and I don't give a f*** whether Ted and Robin stay together in HIMYM. In fact, I'm glad the latter two split up because, frankly, Robin's sort of out of Ted's league as far as I'm concerned. Ted's kind of a dork, so part of the fun of the show for me is seeing how goofy he'll get in his encounters with new women.

The whole point of the show is the journey toward Ted meeting the mother. Once he does that, the show either ends or Ted becomes another Marshall. Ted and Robin aren't "meant to be"; quite the opposite, since it's established in the first or second episode that Robin is his kids' "Aunt Robin," not their mother. All of Ted's relationships need to remain fleeting until the end.

Barney, on the other hand, could have a lot of interesting character development from a relationship with... well, anyone, really, but especially Robin. They're like two peas in a pod. I think it'd be good for both characters.

Another great episode tonight that had its share of laughs and drama.

Marshall and Barney's PJs and the debate was hilarious.

Great to see Prepon's character go, did not like her at all.

"Bridge!"

Agreed. If they really try to make Robin the mother, I am going to be pissed. It was established in the first episode that she is their "Aunt" Robin. Then it was established over the past 3 and a half seasons that the kids have a very close relationship with Aunt Robin. The kid's recognized and were shocked by Ted's revelation in episode one that the girl he was telling the story about meeting was Aunt Robin. I know Ted is an unreliable narrator, but for Robin to be the mother, it would have to mean that she is not the Robin the kids know at all and that there is in fact another Robin close enough to Ted for his kids to consider her their "aunt," and Ted has been lying about the Robin we know's name the whole time. Hell, he would have to be lying about other things, as surely the children would know their mother's profession, personality, etc. Literally everything we know about the Robin character would be false and it would just feel cheap. Luckily, I doubt they'll go down that road.

That said, I don't want Robin and Barney together either. Barney in a relationship could be funny for a few weeks...but it would also create a scenario where Ted is the only single character on the show and the odd man out. I just don't want to see that.

I loved the PJ debate. "I have to lay perfectly still while I sleep." Plus the going ons of Robin's show were just hillarious. :lmao:

Last night's episode was great. Much better than the last couple episodes, which were okay but not quite as good as we all know the show is capable of being. I'm glad Prepon's character is gone; she was a total *****e.

I dont know how Ted kept his composure. I would have been seriously pissed at Lilly, like, dont know if I could still be friends with her pissed. That was waaaaaaaaaaay out of line.
