How I Met Your Mother

Stella/ Elliot Reed is not the mother since it looks like Scrubs is coming back for another year

she's might not be since her on screen boyfriend jd (zach braff) is leaving the show at the end of the season. i think she's going with him. either way she's not the mother. i think events will transpire from that point tthat lead ted to meet the mother. i think by the end of this season barney and robin will be a couple and lily might be pregnant.

ted's supposed to be 52 in 2030(b.1978) when he's telling his kids the story. his kids look about 15-16 so that means ted's wife has the kids when ted is 36-37ish. i think they can drag the show out another 5 or 6 years.

No, that means he knocked her up at 36 or 37. Unless he got her pregnant on the first date, he met her before that.

I wouldn't fret about Stella. After future Ted kept calling her Stella to his kids, I can't see the writers faking us out like this, having her be the mother.

So I'd say Ted meets the mother through Stella. Maybe mom and Stella are friends, they were both at that party, but Stella's friend (aka mom) was the one who lost the umbrella.

It's the most likely scenario, I think.

Agreed, plus, won't the kids know and respond if Stella were the mother? Even if Ted is using fake names (as he likely is as it has been established that Ted is an unreliable narrator), the fact that Stella has a kid who is the same age and gender as their step sister would be a pretty big red flag.

I would love to see old Barney

It would be a good twist and in-joke if they got John Stamos to play him.

Edit: Y'know...speaking of, Dave Coullier would make a good older Marshall.

Quite the resemblence. :wow:

Edit 2: In fact, bring in Lori Loughlin for older Robin! Full House reunion on the series finale of HIMYM :woot:...if only there were a Full House actor who resembled Lily.

You know what. The show has already said that Stella isn't the mother. Remember when Ted was saying how if he talked to Stella's ex, everything would be different... then the living room and the kids changed and Stella came in and said, "Is your dad telling that old story again?"

Seeing as that wasn't the end... she's not the mom.

But it has also been established that Ted is an unreliable narrator. It is possible that he was just trying to throw the kids off the scent. But again, you'd think their half-sister would give it away for them.

Which is another reason why it really can't be Stella... unless there is a supposed step relative that they've referenced.

I would love that but it wouldn't be believable. Older Ted is what? in his 50s when he's nararating. Young Ted is already 30 or something so I doubt he could morph into a completely different looking person in 20 years. It's better they stick with the voice and don't show his face. Though, if Stamos provided Barney's voice at the end...then that's cool. And Coullier could be Marshall's voice.

A little make up and it wouldn't be too difficult to believe. People age drastically between 30 and 50. Granted, they keep the same features and what not, but they are changed a bit so make up can create a better resemblence. That said, it wouldn't really work being as we've already seen older Ted, Marshall, and Lily in several episodes and they look like older versions of their actors :csad:

yeah, at most I could believe the change in voices but not appearances.

that's weird you're disagreeing with me by agreeing with me? :woot: i said his wife has the kids when ted's 36-37. from what you quoted i didn't say that's when they met. but they could meet when he's 36, get married and have the kids by the time he's 37. he almost married stella a couple of months after they met...

The whole voice thing never made sense. They've shown Ted way late in his years and he still sounds just like Ted.

Are you questioning the use of Bob Saget in a show?:cmad:

That guy sucked d**k for coke man. Let him have this for gods sake!

Was that really them? The voices were dead on.

Why must you be so cruel? Can't you just let me remember a simpler time when three men could live together without everyone whispering behind their backs. And when Joey could live with three little girls who weren't blood relatives and bathe them, and do cartoon voices to gain their trust without being considered a pedophile. And when the Olsen twins weren't giant ****es! I miss those days!

yeah it's really them. NPH and Josh Radnor guest starred that episode.

:funny: That's awesome.

that was a much simpler time. I used to watch the show every Tuesday night (I remember it being on Tuesdays when the show finished). Although the series finale was a disappointment. I thought something big would happen like Joey moving out or the whole Tanner family moving somewhere. Not stupid Michelle losing her memory so they have an excuse to show both Olsen twins...:csad:

It's called progress....the era of the wholesome family sitcom is dead....and I for one am happy that it is

I miss it. Lately, the only shows around are centered on death (CSIs, Law and Orders, etc..). I remember sitting down with my family and watching TGIF. Those were the days...
