How many of you like comics and collect action figures and have a girlfriend?

Don't warn her. It's not like you've got an STD or something. If she's too worried about how "childish" it is, remind her that it's even more childish to dislike someone for their differences.

Sweetie, I know we've been on a few dates now and I really like you but there's something I have to tell you. You might want to sit down. I read comics and collect action figures and if you aren't okay with us continuing on with this relationship, I'll understand.

I'd have a girlfriend if I had different priorities.

Meanwhile, back in the real world....:p

Very sound advice, but unfortunately the females that we lust after are the exact ones that find our hobbies immature. Cruel irony, indeed.

Tact, and subtleness are the words. It never was the first thing I said upon meeting a girl.

Girl: Hi, I'm Kim.
Erz: Hi, Erz.
Girl: It's kinda crowded in here, huh?
Erz: Yeah it gets that way on Saturday nights.
.....
Erz: Do you like comic books or action figures? Because I collect them. I have some pictures of them on my phone do you wanna see?

You're right. It was the 3rd thing you said.

Well I collect comics and have a beautiful girlfreind....but she does not think much of me collecting comiocs. I do not collect action figures.

I hope you like comics if you come here lol.

What's in your avatar?

I have a girlfriend and collect figures and some comics, she works by Times Square and some times she'll go into toys r us and pick me up some figures. The only thing she minds is the collection is getting a bit out of hand and taking up alot of space that we dont have, other wise shes fine with it

I don't collect... but I'm a huge comic book junkie and I've got a girlfriend... and she's attractive to boot!

Yeah good luck with that. Not because there aren't girls like that out there or you shouldn't look for someone with similar interests but that you'd turn down a girl just for that sole reason. :o

LMFAO!!!

I'm currently engaged to a wonderful bride to be, although i don't collect action figures, i have a great comic collection that has been build since i was around 12. She knows that every weds i'm at my local comic shop to get the latest issues. She doesn't read them or understands the characters, but doesn't think it's an immature thing. In fact, it's one of the 1st things she mentions about me when asked what i'm like. Her 1st idea for my groom's cake was to have spider-man on it, but i had her change it to a basketball jersey. Collecting comics/action figures shouldn't be something people should be ashamed of or an interest people find immature. Reading comics is like reading any great book/novel. I remember when i was talking with a group of people and they were discussing their favorite book of the moment, and when asked i talked about the Spider-Man arc "Unintended Consequences", but i left out that the main character was spiderman and all the supervillains, and people were like man that sounds good, where can i find it? And when people did come back, they were surprised a so called "comic" could relate to real world issues or that they the "mature" adult could find it interesting.

I've had women come into my room and not even notice all the action figures everywhere.

But I have gotten the, "Can you not act like a geek for one second after I go off on a tangent why I didn't like X-3 or why JLU got cancelled?"

I don't think that's entirely true...I mean look at some to the beautiful girls on this board alone.

Besides a good woman (personality-wise IMHO) would be willing to support it (figures/comics for birthdays and such) I've even had a girlfriend who wanted to read my TPB's and learn more about Superman and such...and ended up liking them too.

Are you serious?

I'd love a woman who b1tches about JLU getting cancelled.

the word relationship offends me.

I'll just jump from woman to woman like a buffet.... there's a chance they'll never see my apartment cause I'll have dumped them in days.

Personally if a woman saw my bookshelf worth of comics and she said something about it... I'd just respond "would you rather me have a collection of nude photos of the women I've screwed?"..

I have those but still..............

I'd just say "Hit the road, ****. Batman is better than you"

That's my attitude. Fortunately for me, I never get to the point where I actually say it. It's all implied.

Who you calling "Sweetie"?

All I'm saying is don't make a big deal out of it. If she asks, tell her "Yeah, I dig comics. I'm a bit of a nerd." It's a hobby. It'd be like if a woman left you because you like to build shelves, or go to art gallerys, or read science fiction novels.

This is true, sadly. I've seen several girls that I'd love to show my room to, but since it's highly adorned with comic memoribilia, I'm sure she's give me the cold shoulder. So, I do just like I do when I go to a resturant. I look and the menu and the entreés, but I order something that won't leave a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak.

You mean, instead of getting the grilled cheese shaped like Mickey Mouse?
