today at work, our system says we have 45 wii units on order for the date of 11-19-06 as the extreamly hard street date. with it still being a couple weeks away, i see the number going up, or regular shipments all during the holiday season

has anyone else in retial got a ball park on how many they will have for launch?

oh yeah, and most of the games we got about 20-30 on order

Their limit at my Gamestop was 36, and I was number 14.:word:

What company do you work at? I'd like to know how many Targets are expecting, as that's where I'll be.

bestbuy

We had a 14 Wii preorder limmit at our store. We recently found out though that Nintendo said that people should be able to get walk ins on launch day.

So...no one really knows. If we don't get enough for walk ins, then just 14.

Here's an interesting rumour.

Rumor: Best Buy Has Determined Wii Distribution
11/2/2006, 4:26pm Eastern Time

Allegedly, a curious employee at an undisclosed Best Buy location checked the store's Retail Stock System, hoping to discover some information on Nintendo's upcoming console. Supposed stock information was garnered from the system: stores in rural and less populous areas will be receiving as little as 24 consoles per store, while outlets in the most densely populated areas will have upwards of 120 systems for sale on the release date, November 19.

The rumor continues by stating that each store should expect to have 60 copies of Red Steel in stock, in addition to 30 copies of Trauma Center: Second Opinion.

There is a last section to this rumor. If it is true, then some Best Buy outlets may already have recevied the first of their Wii shipments. Although this last segment has yet to be confirmed or denied, it should be one of the easiest parts of the rumor to prove.

Best Buy is the largest specialty retailer of consumer electronics on the continent. There are over 1100 Best Buy outlets in the US and Canada.

Very good news. My Best Buy probably will have around 80-100 consoles going by that distribution. I hope they don't sell out before 9am.

so far i dont believe we got anything wii in. but because of the holidays, we now will be gettin 3 trucks a week instead of 2, so we might start gettin more stuff in soon, but i can promise you none of it will hit the floor till 11-19-06

I work at Best Buy 508 in Savannah Ga, we are getting 102 consoles. The Nintendo rep brought the demo unit last week in the Do Not Open Box.But she gave us the treat of our lives today. She came back to the store today and brung a fully playable Wii with her including Excite Truck!!!!!!!!I swear over the course of about an hour and a half everybody employee in the store played from the store manager on down.We have a huge projector on the wall in our break room. She brought two controllers but no nunchuck.I'll answer any quesions asked if I can.

Yeah, but can you confirm/deny the rumor?

well, the way bestbuy does things is ship more of what is popular to areas were they know they can make money. so... they are most likely to send more units to larger cities then a small town market. i work at a small town market, so were gettin around 30, were at stores closer to pittsburgh are gettin around 80. this is how it worked for the 360 and will work for ps3, given the low amount of ps3, im curious how they will handle it.

but if the rumors are true about how many wii will be out for xmas... it shouldnt be a problem goign to teh smaller market stores and gettin one.

What was the verdict? Did the non-gamers like it? Anyone who was hestitant on the Wii changed their opinion?

So, as someone who works at Best Buy, does this mean the Wii will actually be for sale ON the 19th, or just you guys will have everything by then?

I have never seen the response I have seen for any system like this one. Those Wii vids on Wii.com are spot on. Men and women in their fifties came and played and loved every minute of it.They were laughing like children. They might have had heard that it was motion sensitive but they had no idea. Sony fanboys in the store loved it.They were saying they wanted it in addition to the PS3.They picked it up and learned how to play it in a snap.We have a lot of hardcore PC gamers on the Geek Squad who just fell in love with it. These guy were straight WOW addicts, who have not played a console in years. I'm still blown away that I got to play.I want this system to suceed so much, and I believe in Nintendo so much that I went around the store and made sure that anyone who did not know the Wii was there being played got back there to give it a try.

We had a store meeting about the coming systems. We will not have a midnight sale as of right now.No pre-orders.First come first serve.Of course they will be giving out numbers. The Wiis and PS3s of Best Buy employees will be tracked,so if wee were to sell them on EBay the result will be immediate termination.I have to stand in line like everybody else. Also on the final secret...I tried my best to get it out of the Nintendo rep but she would not budge at all.So the rumors are true. She said there are quite a few things that the system can do that we have not been told yet. And Best Buy is seriously considering making the demos playable. The only reason the did not want to is because they dont want to be liable if someone is like accidentally knocked in the eye.

Is it just your Best Buy or all Best Buys that wont have a midnight sale?

Know about any other stores having them?

All Best Buys.Wal mart is having one.

NOT TRUE

only selected stores will be doing a midnight release, areas with large about of gaming sales. large citys, college stores and so on. smaller markets wont be doing a midnight for either of the new systems

as far as the play able demos. all bestbuys will be gettin a nintendo set display. for the most part taking over one of the ds displays if the store, like mine, has two ds systems out for demo. any bestbuy employee can log on and see the date inwitch there store will have theres putin, mine is the 15, just days before launch, andyes, all bestbuy will have units on 11-19-06.

why wouldnt they?

So if the local Best Buy isnt taking pre-orders (which I heard none of them are), your best bet is to just show up at 10 right?

10? That seems kinda late. I would think 8-9.

If I call my local Best Buy, will they tell me if they're having a midnight sale, or just leave me guessing? Also, will they tell me how many systems they're getting or is that top-secret?
