I say screw both ideas, and eat before/after the movie.

I haven't eaten at the movies since I was little, because I'm too into it to get hungry. But every person I go with HAS to have something to drink, something to chew on.

I hate it when people eat popcorn with their mouths open. I'd say about 90% of people do it. It's so obnoxious.

It's probably because they are busy shoving more in their face.

That's lame. Tell them to subscribe to the Immortalfire Way Of Thinking, and eat before or later.

Here in Los Angeles

$6.00 - matinee

$10.00 - full price

$12.00 - IMAX

At the theater I go to the matinee cost $8.00 and regular tickets cost $10.00. There are a couple of other theaters in my area but I just don't like them and they're cheapper or at least one is. One is an old theater and the seats are uncomfortable and I haven't been back since I went to see Batman Begins. And they other I haven't been to in 12 years because when I went to see The Phantom Menace is was out of focus the whole movie. They didn't offer a refund or free tickets to another movie or showing.

You guys still have to sneak food in? By law cinemas aren't allowed to prevent you from bringing your own food down here.

Same here. It infuriates me how much food people sneak in, even if we do stop them before they go in if they have a fast food bag or clear plastic bags. Seriously, some of the food people sneak in smells and lingers in the auditoriums for hours.

If you guys must sneak it in, for God's sake throw it away in the trash when you leave or make sure it doesn't have a strong odor. My recommendation: Eat a big meal before going to a movie or go during concession discount days.

The law seriously prevents them from stopping you? I always thought businesses had the right to refuse service to those they deemed disruptive, and bringing in food to undercut their concessions and things like said above seems like it'd fit for something like that.

Yep, was a big hoo-ha about it a few years back and the Consumer Watchdog basically told the cinemas 'na-ah', you could literally eat a 3 course meal if you wanted to and there's sweet F-all they can do. I always buy my snacks at the supermarket a few shops down, not wasting money on cinema prices.

Popcorn eaters are nothing next to the "new" breed of annoyance....the cellphone users who HAVE to check his/her toy in the middle of the movie. It's like a lighthouse in the dark very distracting.

11 dollars. I watch about 4 movies a year.

My theater has really cracked down on punishing cell phone usage during a movie. I've seen them haul people out for checking the time or whatever.

Back in Sweden for a ticket it's 90-110 kronor, that's $16-18. But right now I'm currently in Malaysia and the tickets here are really cheep, luckily. A ticket cost 12 ringgit which should be around $4.25. I also go to the cinemas more often than I did in Sweden, where I watched probably up 3-4 movies per year.

It's a different age with all the cell phone flipping open.

Where do you live, I might go watch my movies in your town :)

Damn 12 IMAX!? That's awesome! In New York the only real IMAX theater is $19.

I can go over to Jersey Garden Mall for $14 IMAX but's that's too out of my way to go.

After this thread, Im considering boycotting watching movies at the cinema.

matinee $7.50

night time $8.25

3d night time $14.50

monday senior day $6.00 (Im 25 and we do this using the self ticket units out front the theater and the idiots ripping the ticket arent the wiser.)

The theatre near me used to give college students a 5.00 ticket price so long as you had the ID. I kept mine long after and would hook it up every week.

Tickets keep going up in NY every few months (every 6 it seems), now up to $13.50 regular (+1.50 service fee for Fandango purchase) and I'd assume $19/20 for IMAX. Last time I bought an IMAX ticket (for Iron Man 2 I think) they were $18.

I haven't seen an IMAX film for that very reason; cost.

$5.00 matinees. Matinees at my theater are anytime before 6 P.M.

Night shows: $7.00 for students (with I.D.) and $8.00 for adults. $2.00 extra for 3D, no matter the time of day.
