Just curious. Let's take Optimus for example, from truckform to a non-moving stand without a background. How much would that cost?

less than the 2 million dollar shot of Superman getting shot in the eye :D

actually it was 5 million for the bullet to the eye

Let's see, how much of budget we can assume was reserved for CG? 100 mils? Just count the admount of transformations in the movie then do a division, it's not a precisional operation but just for approssimate.

Roughly $30,000 for about 5-10 seconds of simple CG animation or $3,000 per second. Since this stuff was not simple, I'd say it was at least $6000 to $8000 per second, maybe even $10,000 per second of finished film.

the Return to Krypton scene was 10 million, and we'll probably never get to see it...

You sure did put Singer down pretty quickly..

I'd at least ask for some kind of link or some direct quote confirming the cost of the Superman-bullet-eye scene..

He didn't put Singer down fast enough, Singer is horrible, ruined Superman! Singerman returns....horrible...

Yeah! Singer is the devil! Who doesn't hate Singerman Rehashed! Bayformers too for that matter! Raaar! They're the worst directors in the world! I'm lashing out on the internet! Raaar!

Yeah, lets automatically forget that Singer directed movies like The Usual Suspects and X2...

Let's be truly honest here...The directing of Superman Returns was better than the writing.

i'd point you in the right direction but i'm not trying to dig in a pile of threads that are over a year old so you'll have to take it at face value if you wanna take it. judging by the special effects in Superman Returns...i'm pretty sure it's true. SR cost $200m to make and the effects look Spider-Man 2 quality. TF cost $150m and there are maybe 1 or 2 movies that can compare to it's effects. Bay knows how to budget...Singer doesn't. he's got talent...but the effects in his films have always been iffy...

Damnnzz it never came up to me that it would cost so much money to do a Transformation, that explains why it didn't happen that much. It's really my favorite part and I think everybody wants to see those moments. But I have to give the makers two thumbs up because it looked great. But for the second movie, MORE MORE MORE!
