The Dark Knight Rises How much of the Knightfall comic will be used?

As stated previously, it's highly unlikely that Nolan will adapt straight from a comic storyline. TDK wasn't a Snyder-esque shot-for-shot of TLH. Nolan will take elements from Knightfall, I'm sure. Maybe from Vengeance of Bane too. But not enough to call it an "adaptation."

Well to be honest, I think that's what we ALL mean here. LOL I know it's not going to be straight out of the book, but Nolan does use snibits and adapts them in his own way like Year One and Man Who Falls for Batman Begins, as well as Long Halloween and the Killing Joke for The Dark Knight.

i know. i meant they're borrowing elements from that comic. but anyways. i wonder if they'll show how bane became bane.

in the comic he gets experimented on. kinda like weapon x wolverine style but just with venom being pumped into his head.

interesting. it would be cool to see them do a realistic take on this character.

Yea, we know guy.

I tell you, I don't want Bane fighting Bruce in Wayne Manor. I want to see him fight and emotionally break him in the graveyard. The rumors of a football stadium being blown apart makes me hope Bane commits his acts in a way that's a bit more "mad dog" than Joker--with Joker, the Gothamites at least got a warning. Bane? He doesn't give them a warning. Just booms, blood and death.

My fault, I misunderstood what you were saying.

I do like the idea of them fighting in the graveyard, but isn't that a little small of a space for a big, climactic fight?

Unmasked Batman vs. Bane in the Bat Cave would be a mid summer's dream. :awesome: :hrt:

if anyone has a chance. take a look at Batman: The Animated Series.

take a look at episodes

"Bane" and "Demon's Quest Part 1 & 2"

and then look at vengeance of Bane & Knight Fall Comic.

i think that nolan will use elements from all these sources, but create his own masterpiece.

i still say that bane will break batman down. and that will be the emotional acting part for bale. he wants to give up, he's in pain,

then selena kyle or talia al gul will take him to the lazarus pit and it heals him. and bruce has to train and get back in shape and possibly confronts bane with a upgraded batsuit that is more fabric like and he puts a hurting on bane.

I just reread issues 8 through 11 of Knightfall last night (issue 11 being The Broken Bat).

I can see Nolan using a number of the elements from those issues, while at the same time changing a good number as well. Will there be a weeks long gauntlet of Batman rounding up escape villains? Will Bane have his own group of thugs to confront Batman? Will Bane wait until Batman is weakened, and broken emotionally and mentally before attacking him in his own house?

Or will Bane attack Batman while he is at his peak? And in doing so, still absolutely destroy him both physically and mentally.

I love the Knightfall series... I have every issue. I like the idea of it being it's own film.. but I don't think Nolan would go that route. As somebody already said, his ideas come from himself- while he may use a frame work from the comics- the film is his baby, so to speak.

What IF... just throwing this out, but what if Ra's actually turns out out to need Batman's help. Perhaps he unleashes Bane, and comes to the realization that Bane is much to hard to handle.. and maybe Bane does something to Talia? And Ra's needs Bruces' help (aka "the detective")- his greatest student- to take down Bane. That might be a cool angle. They would come full circle as friends to enemies and back to a mutual respect of some sort. Insert Catwoman as the love interest and baddie/heroin and you've got a pretty sweet film.

That's an interesting angle. I never thought of that. Part of me is intrigued by the idea of Ra's asking Bats for help.

Still, we need more reports of Liam caught on set filming before I let myself believe that Ra's is actually back from the dead.

I think Hardy looks a little like like maskless Bane fron BTAS

Agreed. Hopefully Liam is in more than flashbacks.
I'd personally love it if they brought Liam back in more then just a flash back. But right now I'm not getting my hopes up for anything more then that, simply because it does seem a bit far fetched.

However, Nolan has pretty much done the opposite of everything I expected with this film, so who knows.

I like Bane being a kind of obsessed fan of Batman. Not like the Joker who views Batman as his ideological opposite and has some type of love affair with the idea of Batman. But Bane as a psychologically warped stalker who breaks Batman and Gotham simply to prove himself to be the better man.

I'm not sure if I like the rumor about him working for the League of Shadows and being Batman's doppelganger, all Venom-style. Though if it meant the return of Ra's Al Ghul that'd be cool, because someone needs to bring Gotham to its knees in a way even The Joker could not. I mean the poster to me, is "The Dawn is here....But Gotham must suffer to its last to reach it!" Gotham and Batman must go through hell to reach salvation and I just don't know how they can do that with only Bane and Catwoman.

At the same time, I'm intrigued. Especially to see if they even go with the back-breaking storyline and what exactly Catwoman's role will be in the movie.

He does. People who want the Knightfall story are going to be disappointed.

He uses elements and adapts them for the cinematic medium (which works much better than straight copy and paste, coughSnydercough) and deepening them thematically where he sees fit. But you can still see Year One's DNA in Batman Begins and The Long Halloween, as well as to a lesser extent The Killing Joke, in The Dark Knight.

I am not convinced he'll have Batman decommissioned for almost half the film with the back-breaking thing. There is too much to be done for that.

So.... we agree then?
