How will the New Film Standout?

Well yeah they could even go the route Birthright went, the origin is in there but its part of the story especially the part with the fake invasion

Earth One was better. Ergo, they're definitely going to follow Birthright.

Well, I know Kyle, and he's gonna pretend to respect your point-of-view for a while, then contradict whatever he says to that end, and will eventually find some way of making you look dumb or out-of-it for not agreeing with him on something.

Have I missed something on this thread, whats going on?

My opinion is WB may not want to waste 30+ mins on an origin tale. I think they will want to dive right into the action from the get go, and do the origin in flashbacks.
They may, or may not, retain the rights to superman in a few years, so this could be the last hurrah for a while. I think they go BIG on it.
That said, For all I know, they may indeed do an origin tale.

Oh, nothing. He's just stalking me from another board I go to and thinks that whatever happened over there matters here. I'm just trying to ignore it.

That may be the best way to go. Remember, in Batman Begins we started with Bruce just a few months away from becoming Batman. His childhood was shown in flashbacks. We got about five to ten minutes in total of young Bruce. Yet it still managed to flesh out the origin of Batman. Couldn't Superman do the same?

I mentioned in another thread the possibility of doing two movies back-to-back like Donner did. Maybe that would leave room for a bigger story.

I'm 50-50 for a new full origin. If it's a standalone thing, which I doubt it is, then no origin. Just jump straight to it.

On the other hand if this is the last attempt to bring the character back where he belongs, then I'd like the whole damn package in a totally up-to-date trilogy with an entire kryptonian mythology.

lol I just noticed things on here seem pretty hostile today :D

a thought..they first film opens with superman already established..we get wall to wall action, and it's a hit...a sequel is announced shortly afterwards, so, why not do the sequel as a prequel and tell the whole origin of superman from krypton, to smallville, to metropolis.

Like I said man, I'm just trying to ignore it. And I suggest you guys all do the same. This guy, he gets stalker obsessive. He's already come over here simply to rain on my parade after a slight I gave him two years ago. Though it might be better here as this forum has much better mods.

Nah I prefer that the origin is incorporated into the story

Something like that. At least a good chunk of it. That's what I was hoping for for one of the Matrix-sequels. That the first part of the movie was a backflash of how the Machines won.

I'd like that for a possible sequel. The first one third of the movie maybe to show some kryptonian mythology and ultimately why Kal-El was sent off. Then tie Brainiac into it and introduce him as the sequel's villain.
Only, I'd like him to be part of the first one, so...

For two years, Kyle has--on the imdb board--been on a variable smear campaign to discredit me as you can see here. Why? I--an ardent reboot-supporter--dared contradict his point-of-view. If he doesn't like it, he can do one of two things: man up and stop doing what he does, or get off the message boards. Trying to ignore it, as you can see, is only making things worse for him.

After-all, he's already the joke of the imdb boards.

I'm good either way, an origin, an already established superman, whatever. I just don't wanna be let down this time whichever they decide.

Not "stalking" him at-all. After-all, I was here first.

And if he'd apologize for his continuing smear campaign, I might just let up.

Well, I was trying to illustrate to Kyle how a loose sequel could work. Despite several years of being an ardent reboot-supporter, the troll actually tried to paint me as anti-reboot, and said I was "in love with the Donner movies."

No matter what I did, he just kept making these accusations, saying I "expect everyone to care just because it's Superman," because I didn't think an origin was the only way to "make people care."

Did I have a specific story idea in mind? Kinda. Did he ever comment on it? Hell no. It didn't matter. 90% of the time, he tried to make it sound like I thought it should be an homage-fest like Superman Returns, unless he felt like playing Mr Continuity Geek and saying that I wanted to change everything so that it would be like if TDK was marketed as a sequel to the earlier films.

So yeah, I'm just letting you guys know, the guy's a phony. Get on his bad side, and he'll do everything to twist your words and make himself seem smarter than me.

And for an example of how he twists my words around, read this. Then read this. And that should tell you everything you need to know.

I totally agree with your post on celebrating the past and not burying it btw

What was your story idea btw?

It already has an advantage of standing out among the other Super-Hero / Comic Book movies; It’s Superman. But will it stand out among the Superman movies? Let’s Hope.

That is so true. I also think with Zach on board will make it standout.

Say what you will about 300 and Watchmen but those movies definitely stood out and this one will as well.

Got to agree wasn't a fan of 300 but visually it stood out. I loved Watchmen and that stood out aswell.

I agree about Snyder alone being a good reason to why it'll stand out.

"From the producers of Inception and The Dark Knight"

"From the director of 300"

Done.:o

Worked for Inception!

Well, except the 300 part. Zack Snyder didn't do that. But the other stuff, that...that worked. Is what I'm saying.

"From producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder"

I imagine Nolan will be mentioned by name as well.
