Pass.

The 1993 animated film was perfect (or rather perfect enough) to tell that particular story.

Cool fanmade posters, tho!

Indifferent. Yes, it could work, but I am not a fan of MOTP to start with. I didn't like that a girl was the ultimate reason why Bruce decides that Batman is necessary to happen. That said, still a better love interest than Rachel Dawes.

The ironic thing is I used to get into debates with another poster, mostly on the Spidey boards, where he swears Bruce becomes Batman because of Rachel in Batman Begins :hehe:

Well, Rachel provided Bruce with a series of unnatural sounding preachy speeches that helped Bruce to fins his way.

What I really dislike though about BB and Batman's origin there is that traditionally Bruce Wayne decides to become Batman because his parents' killer was never captured, thus proving the system doesn't work. In this case, he was INSTANTLY captured, so Bruce should get that s**t happens, but at least justice was done. And releasing a criminal years later because he can provide vital information to get to bigger fish is part of the system's ways.

I could see how that release might make him feel it didn't work, but then realizing that the criminals were over the system could easily have made him feel like the system didn't work again.

Thinking again on the OP, I'd like to see that twist again, where a beloved supporting character is the masked villain. Going into Batman's past in this way is a great way to do a reboot, imho. Though, I suppose a male version wouldn't be that far off of Hush, would it?

In short, Bruce's rage comes from somewhere else but his parents being killed and Chill being released. Completely regardless of that, there was corruption going on.

Mask of the Phantasm is my favorite Batman film and I don't think it needs a live-action version at all. It's perfect the way it is. But incorporating elements from the film into a future live-action film would be awesome!

Incorpurating elements could work, but adapting the film? Seriously? It was so good because of the animation and voice, the plot itself wasn't all that special, nor was the villain.

This is a completely redundant idea. The film was great, but what purpose is served by remaking it without animation?

Much better to take some influence from the tone and the characterizations, then script a new and engaging story.

No, it was an amazing animated film but its been done already.
