The first time I saw her in the comics it blew my mind that a sista was doing her thing on the superhero tip.

MY Ororo story is weird and strange to be honest. First you must understand I live in Argentina. Comic books were never a big thing until halfway through the 90's. And, here, there used to be a bunch of playing cards with every cartoon character (don't know if those games were available there). Anyway, a friend of mine had the Spider-Man and Friends playing cards, and we often used to play with them. I just loved the Storm card. I did not know who she was, I did not know anything other than the pic on the card and a very vague power description. All I knew was that she was a girl who could control the weather and had a cool weird cape. And I loved her. I just always wanted her on my "team" (i don't truly remember how you played, but it had something to do with teams). A couple of years later, the X-Men video game debuted (the old arcade, which I now know it was based on Pryde of the X-Men). Everytime I played I chose Ororo (and sometimes Dazzler I must admit, but mostly Ororo). Then the cartoon came and well, I was hooked. In fact, the first episode I ever saw was the Ororo/Rogue vs Shadow King episode. I became a fan of the show in 94, and began buying comics in 95. The rest is history.

I'm not much of a Storm fan.

Then why are you here? You come to vote on how you became a storm fan, not that your not a fan.

Why isn't there an "I'm not" option?

Because you'll get yelled at and ridiculed and accused of trying to pick a fight.

I became a Storm fan and well a general X-men fan through the cartoon that came on Fox. I used to watch it all the time growing up, my mom too. Though never could get my dad to watch it. He's more of a DC fan I think.

First it was her powers, which was just cool. She had one of the best poses during the cartoon's opening. Cyclops was really good as well. Then I got into her with comics (though not a lot since I wasn't really a big comic fan but I enjoyed her in the ones I did read). I was really glad she was a main character in the X-men movies, as she should be. First powers, then her beauty and personality (kinda at the same time as I got older). Though didn't care for mohawk Storm. The 80s were a weird time all around for hair.

I saw the show, then became in love with the movies, then strat reading the comics!

I first saw her on cartoon not on comics. I always thought she was cool. Her image to me as a kid was this weird, beautiful woman. Frightening yet beautiful. Though she looks scary when she's powered up, I still loved her. Because my friends would choose the normal looking...like Jean. Now, after 13 years, I'm crazy for her. I love everything about her. I mean, I think she's a unique superhero. As Claremont said, at that time (1970's)there were only few african superheroes. Women leaders. Women who were more powerful than their male team mates. She has grace, beauty, and power...that's what I love about her. She is the soul of the X-Men. I am crazy about her and always will be...

Thats fantastic.. and she is powerful!

Not neccesarily...lol.

SERIOUSLY IT'S STORM!!!!A beautiful strong black woman that started out as this teenage with these remarkable powers then work her way up to be worshiped by the morlocks and then to tame the beast that is wolverine, with out storm guidance that stinking canadian would have killed all of the x-men(even jean!!LOL)And now she is one of the leaders of the x-men.what is not to like about storm other that she was shorter than wolverine in the movie, but she was played by the equally beautiful Halle
Berry so that made up for it !!!!
she even looked hot in BLACK LEATHER and a mohawk....SEXY!!!!

Saying stuff like that will get you eaten alive in Storm threads.

Either that or in trouble with certain... rr-hem... I better stop now.

I was introduced to the character in an episode of "Spiderman and His Amazing Friends" where the x-men guest starred.

I got hooked when I saw her in mohawk mode and started snapping up Classic X-Men reprints to get the full skinny on her.

No more so than going into a Jean/Phoenix thread and claiming them as two seperate entities gets you beheaded and near devoured. Or wandering into a Cyclops thead and saying, i don't care if he dies. Fans are fans, regardless of character.

hahahaha :D

Well, we are hungry. A growing Phoenix needs her vegetable people.

I became a Storm fan from the comics. I loved the bondage queen look of her original costume and thought she made an interesting character. Her developing friendship with Jean further intrigued my interest, and I enjoyed how powerful of a character she was and her role in the X-Men.

I thought it might have something to do with the unstable molecules, but how does she change into civilian clothing? I dont know much about the unstable molecules though maybe they can turn into street clothes.

Professor X used to be good at providing unstable molecule clothing with programmable properties. If storm provided a specific frequency charge the clothes would be programmed to turn into her costume. In the first few issues of New Mutants, Wolfsbane's uniform was programmed to shrink into a collar whenever she shapeshifted.
