Hugging is something I never initiate. When confronted with this, usually when saying goodbye.

So when they reach out for the hug. I give the one arm around with a pat on the back. Other arm is free for me to grab things ( like a doorknob)
Every so often I give the regular hug when someone might really need it. (or she's quite hot) Otherwise its just because they want one and I want to get out of hear as quick as I can.

I'm at a club about 5 years back,... and all a sudden, this big black chick comes up to me, she looks like a freaking gorilla, hairy arms, hair on the back of her neck.... just gross.... she says

"I just want to let you know, that you are a beautiful hunk of man"

I'm like thanks. she then offers to buy me a drink, whcih I accept due to me being a poor college kid. I grab the drink, and am about to leave when she goes

"you ain't leaving without me getting a hug"

To which she wraps her arms all the way around me and lifts me up, shaking me up and down as her grip get's tighter...

I'm a decent sized dude, 6'-3" and around a solid 220lbs... and she picked me up like I was a rag doll...


maybe she was a man?

I am rarely hugged, so I wish there was MORE hugging in my life, not less I'm an affectionate person, but most others in my life are not.

I like hugs. Hugs make you feel good for a moment. I prefer girls, but I'll hug guys if the moment calls for it. Hell I have a few guy friends that hug me every time, and that's their way of saying hi. Nothing wrong with it IMO.

im fine with it, feels more sincere then a handshake... to me those are for people you don't know very well.. you do a handshake with anyone you meet for the first time, its very impersonal imo when it's amongst friends. I think you guys just have issues with your masculinity and fine it too feminine or "gay" to hug.. that or you have severe issues with personal space...

i have a friend who's like that.. everyone i know will hug, with a pat on the back... but he only does it when its someone who he doesnt see often who's older.

Okay... one thing that I just don't get, and has always made me feel a little "akward" is hugging.... now, I don't mean like hugging your dad, child, or sig. other, that's fine... it's this whole younger culture that seems to like to hug, or touch bodies as a gesture of "hello" or "goodbye".

Whatever happened to the handshake? Or a quick wave of "hello" with the hand?

Why is it, then when I see someone I know at a bar, they have to grab my hand, pull my in, but our chests together, and slap each other on the back? Or, when I meet a girl for the first time, when we say our goodbyes, we have to hug?

I got the wierdest looks the other night, when I met some of my friends "other" friends, and when I left, one of the girls tried to give me a hug, and I took a step back... everyone basically had this "what's his problem" look on their face... I even said "I'm not a hugger" to which she said "I am" and then pulled me in for a hug?

Maybe I'm just strange, but I just getted wierded out be this..... but hey, atleast the fist bump seems to be fading out.... lol...

I dislike hugging. I don't care if it's family or friends or attractive women...I don't give a ****. I mean I wanna hug hot women or just hug people, but it doesn't feel right to me.

But I'm anti-social . When people say hi to me or hey, I either wlak past them or say hey.

I just get nervous and shy in public. Like if I know you well...yeah, I won't shut up at times. But I don't really like for example going to fast food places and ordering there...it can be empty or busy. Just don't like it. I don't like it when people I see at the rec center work out talk to me. Distracting me and ****. I get distracted enough from the tv. With 'The Game' on BET half the time I'm there.
