I work at a hollywood video and this kid who works at game crazy started talking comics cuz he saw my Hulk Key chain.I told him the reason why writers came up with Planet Hulk and he yells "I Hate Hulk".I asked why and he said cuz all Hulk does is kick everybodys ass.I said damn right, but then I thought that some people turned there back on super man cuz the writers made him too powerful and its boring.I feel the Hulk is too rich in character to fall in that trap, but what do you think?Do you think him being so powerful makes you uninterested like my game crazy friend?Or does it make him more interesting and you cant wait til he gets back to earth and kicks everybodys ass again?

He's boring to me because he's basically a plot tool.

BOOOOOOOOOOOO,get off the stage.
Terrible reason. Not true in the least

The reason that I like Hulk and not Superman (No, I won't see the new movie) is because even with all his power, he's about as bright as a 25 watt light bulb. If he were a lot smarter he would be boring. Being the way he is, makes him almost primal in his way of thinking and reacting to situations. Hulk thinking things through and doing things logically would be boring. :venom:

I love Hulk as an ensemble character. HE's great when he makes guest appearences, which he does frequently, and interacts with other characters. In that capacity, I love him.

But as a character starring in his own book I just find little appeal. PAD did some decent stuff with him, but I was way more impressed with his Captain Marvel. And aside from PAD I can't think of any other Hulk starring story I've actually really enjoyed.

I've never had much of a problem with the Hulk's power level. He embodies strength--that's his theme. If it can be done with physical strength, the Hulk should be able to do it, as far as I'm concerned.

Also, I've never bought that crap about a character becoming boring because he's too powerful. Challenges exist for every character. If a character becomes boring, it's the fault of the creators working on him at the time, not the level of his powers.

Well, we'll agree to disagree here. In the last few months, all I've seen him used as is a plot tool. He's been used to launch the Illuminati plot, he's being used as a tool for when he returns from his space escapades, etc.

He's not a deep character; he's a guy who turns big and green when he gets angry. His most complicated psychological ordeal is that he doesn't like hurting people, except for when he's angry. Think about that. You're allowed to laugh out loud at the simplicity of it.

they gave him power because hulk smash he smash everything

I'd recommend that person to read Hulk:Grey. Great stuff there.

Difference between Hulk and Superman is that Superman had points where he could just do ANYTHING. There was no problem too big for him to handle. Hulk, on the other hand, is hardly in that situation. He's the pinnacle of physical power, aside from cosmic characters obviously, but with zero brain power most of the time. He's the representation of the beastial portion of the human condition. The latent anger driven desire to crush things.

I agree with Elijya, Hulk is an awesome character that shows up in another comic. Such as the Champions, where he was just trying to take Jennifer to the damn hospital, but since people are just so used to Hulk needlessly destroying things, that they attack him first, and find out later on THEY were the idiots. It kind of added a level that didn't exist before as people thought of the Hulk. As his own book though? It just can't really get that good. If he was on a team or something, that'd be fine I guess. But he works best as a peripheral character.

I'll never get why people don't like that about Superman. I know it might because of the cheesy comics that he was doing it in, but like the Hulk(and all characters) it depends on the writer. All Star Superman is real good and hes uber in that.

Because Superman fans turn around and flame the Sentry for the same thing. That, and I like characters who have flaws beside a super rare radioactive mineral, and magic. Neither of which are in heavy supply around Superman it seems. Where Hulk's intelligence can ALWAYS be used against him. How hard is it to lead the Hulk away from a populated place? If Superman went rogue, you could just call him names and run, but chances are he'd just go back to destroying things, and not falling for easily put together traps. Hulk is just dumb, you can make a pit, cover it with obviously different colored leaves, and he'd STILL fall for it. And Hulk can't just fly out of a situation, if he were in a sand pit, he's stuck in a sand pit, effectively just stopping an otherwise unstoppable character. Where Superman could just shrug that off and get out, and heat beam you for it. Hulk is just pure strength, pure durability, and low intelligence, that's it. Tons of limitations and problems where he actually has to work around. Not saying Superman has zero limitations, it's just he has tons fewer. If it's a heat guy, freeze him, if he needs air, suck all the air out of the room, if he can't fly, drop him from a huge height, if he's just really durable, punch him out, if he's some cold guy, fry him. And he can see through things and stuff, and Superman's suppossed to be some sort of genius and such. So most enemies he comes across shouldn't even be able to outsmart him. That and Clark's life is relatively easy and carefree, where Bruce has to deal with the Hulk all the time as an affliction.

Hulk has great potential if only people would explore that with him. They gave Daredevil the feel of a pulp comic with its noirish qualities, surely they could turn Hulk into a psycho-drama.
I know I'm speaking from experience when I wonder what I did the previous night after drinking. Imagine what Bruce would have to deal with knowing he could have successfully toppled a nation in his sleep. Hulk could be something more spontaneous rather than the usual "Anger...SMASH!". Treat it like more of a mental illness where he slips in and out of episodes of Hulkness and doesn't EXPECT it. Make the transformations less of a reaction.
The best Hulk pic out there is Bruce with a pistol and a bottle of Jack Daniels sitting on his desk, with his face buried in his hands.
