Jericho Contacts WWE About Returning, Del Rio & Rosa's Romance, Fandango

source:Rajah.com

- With Alberto Del Rio flirting with a babyface turn, his romance with Rosa Mendes has been dropped.

- WWE has made the call to put the new Fandango gimmick on hold. No word on whether it's been dropped entirely, but WWE is no longer running vignettes and there are no plans for him to debut any time soon.

- Chris Jericho recently contacted WWE about returning for a short run leading up to WrestleMania that would involve Jericho putting over young talent. The sides are still talking, but as we've seen in the past, the major issues holding up the deal are Jericho not being able to commit to a full-time schedule (due to his outside projects) and Jericho wanting full control over said outside projects.

- As noted before, the December 17th WWE RAW with The Slammys scored a 2.87 rating with 4.22 million viewers. The 2011 Slammy Awards did almost identical numbers with a 2.84 rating and 4.11 million viewers. In 2011, those numbers were considered really bad but this year they're considered really good.

In the segment breakdown, Kaitlyn vs. Eve Torres plus the return of The New Age Outlaws for a Slammy presentation gained 130,000 viewers from the opener. Kofi Kingston vs. Tensai and the Best Kiss Slammy lost 28,000 viewers. David Otunga vs. The Great Khali lost 328,000 more viewers. The Ric Flair segment with John Cena, CM Punk and Paul Heyman gained 605,000 viewers for a 3.20 quarter rating at 9pm.

The end of the brawl with Flair, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Ryback and The Shield plus JTG vs. Brodus Clay lost 588,000 viewers. The LOL Moment Slammy plus Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes gained 147,000 viewers. The hashtag Slammy and the segment with Big Show, Sheamus and Ziggler trying to cash in gained 122,000 viewers. Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal vs. Tommy Dreamer, Alberto Del Rio and The Miz lost 502,000 viewers for a show-low 2.64 quarter rating. Plus this was the 10pm quarter that almost always gains.

Antonio Cesaro vs. Ryback plus the Match of the Year Slammy with Triple H gained 113,000 viewers, a number that has to be considered a disappointment. John Cena and Vickie Guerrero vs. AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler gained 510,000 viewers for a 3.00 overrun rating.

- Backstage at RAW this week, there was a lot of talk about how bad Bully Ray came off on Twitter with his comments about WWE TLC. Here's what he wrote:

"Dudleys, Hardys, E&C...still the KINGS of TLC. Anybody doubt that? Of course not. #BULLYNATION"

- There was concern at this week's TV tapings that the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut may affect the product in some way because of an anti-violence media backlash, particularly when it comes to shows that draw kids. Vince McMahon told people that he expects to be targeted for the effect wrestling has on children, and that they will fight back with charity work and pushing the idea that WWE is family entertainment.

- WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro continues to work with torn tendons and broken fingers in his right hand.

- As seen on Monday's RAW, Ric Flair made his return to WWE. His return was something that had been scheduled for a few weeks but what his role would be was changed several times. Vince McMahon himself reportedly opened lines of communication with Flair about a month ago. They even discussed doing one angle that would have introduced his daughter, NXT Diva Charlotte.

There is nothing official on the books regarding Flair but it's believed he will be back to do a short TV angle with CM Punk. The angle would not include a wrestling match as Vince McMahon has been adamant about not violating the terms of Flair's 2008 retirement stipulation.

There had been talk of Flair not doing physical angles because of his age and what happened with Jerry Lawler. WWE obviously had a change of heart as the angle on Monday was their idea and not something he asked for. Flair came to Philadelphia for RAW and was ordered to first undergo an EKG to make sure he was healthy enough to do something physical. WWE wants him to take more medical testing because they do have plans to use him in the future in other physical angles.

For his return on Monday, Flair was hidden away in a trailer. There was some talk backstage that he would appear but nobody saw him.

- WWE is currently in negotiations with at least one investment company about partnering up for the WWE Network. Word is that people will be stunned when they find out the current programming vision, which has reportedly changed greatly.

WWE rarely takes on partners in their business ventures because Vince McMahon doesn't like answering to other people and has a joke about how they don't play well with others.

In the negotiations, WWE is pushing that the Network would have extremely low programming costs compared to other networks since the bulk of the programming would be their old wrestling tape library that they own and don't have to buy any licensing fees for.

- Ric Flair was said to be happier than ever backstage at Monday's RAW in Philadelphia. All of the younger WWE stars were gathered around monitors watching the segment with him, CM Punk and Paul Heyman. One person in the company said that the most over thing in the building all night was Flair's angle and everyone loved it.

- It's said that there are definitely wrestlers backstage who are concerned about their spot with WWE since officials have been introducing so many new characters from NXT such as Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Big E Langston and Brad Maddox. Bryan Alvarez speculates that we may not see any roster cuts until the spring.

- As of last word, there is nothing on the table for Chris Jericho to return to WWE but both sides continue to negotiate. Jericho had been in talks to return for a WrestleMania 29 storyline.

- It appears the debut of Big E Langston on WWE TV had not been planned for more than 10 days as he was pushed as the top babyface at the December 6th NXT tapings where he defeated Seth Rollins for the NXT Title since Rollins had debuted on RAW with The Shield. Because of the way NXT is taped, Langston's title win won't air for several weeks but the official NXT website has featured him in a graphic since debuting earlier this week.

- For what it's worth, it's said that whatever plans WWE had worked in for WrestleMania 29 were changed over the past week. Apparently major changes went down and the only match that wasn't touched is Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H.

This doesn't necessarily mean that for example, The Rock vs. John Cena isn't taking place, but it could mean that twists and turns or stipulations are being thrown in.

On a related note, there has at least been talk that Sheamus going down with two clean losses to Big Show will set up him to win the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row. As noted before, Randy Orton vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title has been planned for WrestleMania 29.

- Hulk Hogan hyped tonight's episode of Impact, writing on Twitter, "IMPACT WRESTLING tonight on Spike 8est/7central,Bully is really getting close to the point of no return with me,as GM it's getting tougher"

- Jeff Hardy recently talked about his future with TNA wrestling and if WWE was an option during an interview with 4thandPain.com.

"I'll look at the comments on Instagram and there's all this WWE, TNA talk. I get so tired of hearing that as far as where I should be or whatever. Being here is what's cool to me because we have so much room to grow and get better. And really, I feel needed more here. Like if I did ever go back to WWE, I wouldn't feel as needed. I mean, I would stand out but I would just vanish with the other top guys. Being here is just unique because I'm able to be the complete package of 'The Charismatic Enigma,' like with my music coming out and my artwork. There's just so much potential for me overall being more than just a wrestler here in TNA. And that's why I'm going to remain here."

I'd like to see Jericho back for Wrestlemania 29. I'm not where he would fit though.

Also I thought Jeff Hardy would stay with TNA after they started promoting his music. I wanted to see him back in WWE , but TNA has been good to him.

. Vince McMahon told people that he expects to be targeted for the effect wrestling has on children, and that they will fight back with charity work and pushing the idea that WWE is family entertainment.

I've yet to see wrestling targeted

I wouldn't mind seeing Jericho finish his feud with Orton.

There is nothing official on the books regarding Flair but it's believed he will be back to do a short TV angle with CM Punk. The angle would not include a wrestling match as Vince McMahon has been adamant about not violating the terms of Flair's 2008 retirement stipulation.

THANK YOU!

I can't tell them apart! This is Mike Kruel and Matt Stryker all over again! :csad:

Okay Impact, good main event. Enjoyed that.

Weren't there two Matt Strikers?

I wouldn't mind seeing Jericho finish his feud with Orton.

THANK YOU!

If only that stipulation actually meant something. Such a shame that Flair ruined the perfect end to his career.

I've seen some veterans speak out about the current roster implying they don't step up or try hard enough. Meanwhile if someone does they seem to be buried for it. I know Ryder doesn't fit the mold . Vince and Triple H want "destroyers". They could of made more money with Ryder. It's just a waste of talent , imo.

The whole stepping up thing used by the veterans is often BS. Look at Dolph, he's over, he's busted his ass making chicken salad out of chicken****, he constantly puts on great matches, he's improved his promos, and yet his name is not among the big Mania matches while Sheamus who has struggled to really connect, Roidback who is garbage and Orton who has failed 3 wellness tests are all featured.

At first I thought this was a dig at Dolph vs Cena but in actual fact I realize he's taking issue with The Shield vs Bryan/Kane and Roidback.

The difference between the matches are that the one last Sunday was more story driven and less of a spotfest than the ones Bully was in, plus it featured a complete choad, a green as grass rookie and a near 7 foot 45 year old, the matches Bully was in featured 4 bump machines and the Dudley's.
- For what it's worth, it's said that whatever plans WWE had worked in for WrestleMania 29 were changed over the past week. Apparently major changes went down and the only match that wasn't touched is Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H.
Not surprising that shovel arse's match has been left untouched, gotta get that win back! :whatever:

Daniel Bryan did good this week with him hanging out for a few minutes with that little boy.

So, when the Rock comes back to the WWE, will they force him to Tout?

It's a social media fad and obnoxious so they wont have to force him.

Good edition of Impact with the Championship Thursday. Jeff Hardy Vs. Austin Aries was great, along with Mickie James and Tara. That DDT Mickie gave Tara was sick. I'm glad Sting will be returning in addition to Hardy staying with TNA and it's giving me reason to watch Impact. I love Joseph Park's training segment at OVW with the Gutcheck winners there. I see story possibilities with Joseph Park and the Gutcheck winners.

I blame Tout on NBA Legend Shaq O'Neal. Tout did not take off until he used the site to announce his retirement from the NBA.

Weren't there two Matt Strikers?
They looked nothing alike. Matt Stryker was a boring ****. Matt Striker is a fun guy to joke around with. Some of the storylines I got to see him in were hilarious. Wish I knew he was a teacher before I did my student teaching and observations.

Screw the 2008 retirement stipulation and book Punk vs. Flair at Wrestlemania. Look how over that segment was Monday. Wrestling retirements aren't taken seriously anyway and it's not like Flair would appear at every WWE event from TV to house shows. You can still spin it as he retired from a fulltime schedule in 2008. Anyway, it's the perfect feud. Flair always said to be the man you gotta beat the man and that weaves in with Punk's desire for respect. Punk is straight edge and Flair is basic hedonist. The two men have never faced off and I am high on having new matches at Wrestlemania. We are getting Rock/Cena and Triple H/Lesnar again, so Punk/Flair could complement that. Plus, Punk still needs a clean win over a legit opponent. Flair is old, but he is still Flair. I doubt Flair would have a problem putting over Punk clean. This would take Punk to another level. Besides, I always thought Flair should have made someone in his last match. HBK obviously didn't need made. Go Punk/Flair.

If only that stipulation actually meant something. Such a shame that Flair ruined the perfect end to his career.

I'm sure he wanted to go out at the time, but once he got divorced again, he had no choice, but to go to TNA.
