Hush vol. 1 and 2

Long Halloween and Dark Victory were much better.

Yeah man.
Hush was really a step back in quality for Loeb. :o

I think my main problem with Hush is the art. I've never been much of a Jim Lee fan.
Tim Sale would have made it so much better.

I loved the art but I do wonder how it would have looked if Sale did it. Imagine him drawing Ra's Al Ghul, Talia, Hush, newer Catwoman suit, etc.

I think the really dark parts of the story would have been a lot better looking, considering how effectively Sale uses shadows and lighting.
Can you imagne Sale drawing the scene where Batman mercilessly pounds Joker? It'd be incredible.

Yea, would be great to see Sale draw that scene. But I still loved Lee's art.

If anybody wants to know what I thought was wrong with Hush, I posted a two-part parody of it, written in "Mad Magazine style" when I was brand new on this forum, way back when. It's been a few years, but I find that copies of the parody are still available at

Bratman: Shush (Part 1 of 2)
Bratman: Shush (Part 2 of 2)

Be warned that the parody is meant to be read by people who have already read the full 12-issue (or 2-TPB) story arc. If you try reading the parody first, it will drown you in Spoilers that will ruin the major surprises of the real thing for you! :)

I love Lee's art, his Batman is ideal to me and his new version of Catwoman is inspired.
But his ****ing Joker is terrible. I hate his Joker. Hate. Hate.

Hush is in my top three favorite Batman books, along with The Long Halloween and Dark Victory.

You can usually get it at a Barnes & Noble, or you could order it online from Amazon.com.

thank you tom you're the best. possible you know the price.

I got my Absolute Hush book on eBay. That is also how I got my copy of Man Who Laughs. I am mentioning that because that graphic novel is incredibly hard to get some places like where I live.

yeah, Atlantis is probably a bad place to have paper.

Yeah I know! The paper always gets wet and....

Anyway. Amazon has Absolute Hush listed here:
http://www.amazon.com/Absolute-Batm...=pd_bbs_1/102-5147911-5003359?ie=UTF8&s=books

or the two volumes here:
http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Hush-V...=pd_bbs_2/102-5147911-5003359?ie=UTF8&s=books

and here:
http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Hush-V...f=pd_bxgy_b_img_b/102-5147911-5003359?ie=UTF8

Amazon is great for discounts, if you're looking to buy the Absolute one then Amazon would be the first place I'd look.

See, I feel the exact opposite way. I thought Lee's art was what made Hush worth buying. I really didn't care for the way he drew Batman (way too bulky in some scences, and the ears are too short) and I couldn't stand his ugly ass Joker, but I thought just about everyone and everything else in the books were amazing. I thought his Superman, Ivy, R'as, Nightwing, Robin, and Riddler were absolutely incredible. Could've done without the goggles on catwoman, but still very nice. And Talia.... Holy god... the hottest comic-woman EVER.

Tim Sale OTOH... I know this is practically blasphemy around here, but I really can't stand Sale's style. It's very distince, and has a nice feel to it for noir-type stories, I'll give him that. But I really just don't like the way the characters look at all.

When first glancing at TLH before reading it I somewhat disliked the art. However, while reading the story it all went so well and whenever I re-read it I am constantly enjoying Sale's art and style.

Here is how I feel about these particular character desgins of his:

- Riddler: Never was a fan of this design.
- Joker: At first I felt the grin was too much but soon began to love it.
- Two-Face: This is my most favorite design for Two-Face. I wish more artists drew and colored him the way Sale did.
- Batman: The only thing that occassionally bothers me is his nose.
- Catwoman: I liked her design although I do not like that suit; but I tolerated it. I was so happy to see Sale draw Selina more attractive out of costume in DV though.

The rest of the characters I have not mentioned...there isn't much more to say; I liked em.

Like I said in a few posts above...I wonder how Sale would have drawn characters like: Hush, Ra's Al Ghul, Talia, new Catwoman suit, Huntress, Killer Croc, etc.

everyone thinks about stuff like this. can't wait to get some money i'm picking hush up when i get it.

I love alot of Jim Lee's work but doesn't anyone else think all his characters look abit... samey? I mean everyone seems to have the same beefy build the same hairstyle etc plus his Harvey Dent and Lex Luthor were near enough identical!
