Hyperion vs Sentry

Horrorfan said:
Well he did apparently fight galactus to a standstill, and he is the only hero who can stand up to the void, who dismantled hulk like he was northstar.

Im pretty sure Supreme Power Hyperion would dissmantle the Hulk as if he where 'Northstar' ....

If characters such as the Thing, Wolverine and Spiderman can actually hurt the Hulk, I would hate to see what a Richter scale punch would do ?

I'd love to see this fight, and even throw Thor into the mix too.

Could Supreme Power Hyperion beat galactus, or take him to a standstill?
I'm not too sure that he could, personally, but maybe...

Yes he can.

He is even more powerful than the exiles version.

Basically he is superman.

Galactus is just a big jobber. He's lost e.g. to Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange, Rachel Summers, Dazzler, ... Really, his primary function in the MU seems to be jobbing to everyone. Stalemating him in combat is not impressing at all.

If you get right down to it, he's even pretty much deliberately a jobber. I mean the whole thing of the character is, he doesn't really much want to do what he does. So it's like if you kick his ass and keep him from eating a planet, well, you've really sort of done him a favor.

Really? Where do you get that from? I quit JMS' Squadron Supreme before Hyperion seemed to be all that impressive.

Just an assumption really

You do realize Hulk has fought Thor to a standstill. You know, the Thor that beat Hyperion.

Yeah, it wouldn't be that easy for anyone to beat Hulk. Don't believe me? Wait until Planet Hulk is over.

Kind of out of context.

Doom took his power when he was feeding, and didn't really defeat Galactus, as Galactus was just fine. Strange kind of held off Galactus. Summers attacked a starving Galactus with the Phoenix Force at full power, and... I don't know about Dazzler.

Holding Galactus to a standstill, and getting him to leave is a super impressive feat.

Dazzler didn't do anything to Galactus. Except get herself drafted to go into a black hole after Terrax. The only thing that I can think of that Strange ever did to Galactus was hit him with the Images of Ikon when he was near dead from starvation. That created an illusion that attacked his mind when he was too weak to fend it off.

I dunno if he can be more powerful than the exiles version....

That dude ruled his own planet and would have conquered another if it werent for the exiles, and he fought two good hyperions as well at once.

And Hyperion's pretty much always been basically superman :p

Have you read Supreme Power ?

I love it how no one appreaciates feats that don't involve combat !!!!!!!

Wrong Hyperion .... read my previous posts, I am referring to the Hyperion from the Supreme Power serries, and yes he would destroy current Hulk.

Dazzler at that time, I think, was given a power boost by Galactus and made his Herald in a "What if" story. Thus we come to my point: these stories are always tweaked in such a way that either Galactus is extraordinarily weak and/or the opponent at an exceptionally high level of power, or the circumstances favor the opponent in some other way. In other words, Galactus is used as a jobber whose purpose is to point out to the readers that this-and-this character is very cool and powerful. Given this pattern, if it is indeed true (currently, it is but a rumour) that Sentry has fought Galactus to a stand-still, it has likely happened under similar "biased" conditions.

Oh, and didn't Quasar also stalemate Galactus once?

Dazzler attacked Galactus without effect. Then Galactus drafted her and provided her with a protective shield and a continuous beam of extremely intense sound from his ship via an energy beam and sent her into a black hole to retrieve Terrax. This was in normal 616 continuity.

Really? I must have been misinformed, then. I read about Dazzler defeating Galactus on another forum, without actually seeing any scans or reading the original issue. Sorry about wrong info :csad: The other fights I mentioned I have seen "first-hand", though.

There may have been another encounter but if there was I didn't see it and haven't heard of it. I can't positively say that there wasn't.

I am not aware of another either. Your summary was bang on.

I go back way before that. I remember the first meeting of the JLA and the JSA when it first came out as well as the Composite Superman. I am closing in on 45 years as a comics fan.

And I thought my 30+ almost 35 years of reading was good. :)

Nice. :)
