I Am Legend Prequel shaping up!?

Oh dear. Now, I liked I Am Legend, but I'm not sure about this at all.

Echoing what you guys said, I Am Legend was great but why do a prequel?

Eh? Don't really see the point. What would it be about? Normal life? + I didn't even like the first one. The book was so much better.

The only way a prequel like this would work is if the story unfolds in a way you don't expect; it still seems more like an attempt to cash in on the original ones success.

^Agreed with all, I liked the movie, but i just dont see the point in a prequel, as we will already know the story and the outcome. It may be good for all we know, but yeat, little skeptical about this.

I don't know that a prequel is necessary. Maybe WB could just do a reboot? ;)

They should have been smart and kept the original ending were Neville lived and then do a sequel. Too many times these days director's fail to remember that, other than the movie fans who buy DC's and such, the theatrical ending will be the only ending for the general audience and that is the ending they have to go by for any future installments. Director's these days seem to forget this very easily.

I was "meh" about IAL. This is just ridiculous. A prequel to that film?

^Thats not true, its based on the money the first one made :cwink:.

^Who knows, it may be a good movie, Will's movie's of late have been great IMO.

I guess. I thought IAL was 5 out 10 at best. I didn't bother with Hancock. Will give it a rental. I did like Pursuit Of Happyness though.

MIB3,badbos 3,hancock.
all movies where Smith fits 100%.and now talk about this?

meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

The first one sucked ass. :down

The first one was okay as something completely independent from the book and should never have had the title I am Legend.

That being said doing a prequel is completely pointless since they did the flashbacks to show what had happened. The only way it would work would be to see how the virus actually developed and how it was unleashed. Which to me isn't that interesting.

They would be better off doing an actual sequel concentrating on the girl/kid and the settlement from the end of the first one. Being beseiged by vampires. Or if taking some inspiration from the book have an "intelligent" vampire infiltrate the settlement and start killing off people. He/She's discovered but before instead of offing him/her they put them on trial (since it wouldn't be right to just kill them) then before they can do that he escapes or there's another inside the camp and they open the doors to let in an army of vampires...thus killing off the rest of humanity.

Prequel = really bad idea

This is very true, but do you really want a whole other movie with that actress in it? I don't. It would suck. Maybe if she died in the beginning and bring in another a-lister I'd go for it.

Well, this definitely tops my “Most Eagerly Anticipate Prequels List,” which also includes the following:

Weekend Before Bernie’s

Gigli Begins

5,000 B.C.

Before We Stomped the Yard

The Love Guru: Origins

Sisterhood of the Traveling Diapers

A Hancock sequel and this? I can see why this would have a possibility, but the ending of Hancock is muddled is psycho-analytical crap.

I'll only see it if we get to see a ten minute promo of the next Batman film. :o

I liked I Am Legend, but what's the point of a sequel? We already know a virus breaks out. All humanity is lost, and Will Smith is our protagonist. They really need to think of something good if they are willing to release a prequel.

Other than to make more of money i don't see the point of making a prequel.:o

Nowadays studios are trying to turn what seemed like stand alone stories in to franchises with sequels, prequels and spinoffs being discussed for just about anything. That's a very worrying trend IMO.
