But seriously DS it's great you take your writing seriously, but if you freak out when someone jokes about it being like Shades it makes me wonder if you can take real literary criticism, which is the only way a writer improves his craft.

Maooz, the fact is I've strived to create something as original as possible that has as large a positive impact on my (potential) readers as I can hope to achieve. Too many popular books nowadays (including 50 Shades and City of Bones) were originally fanfics themselves, and moreover, the themes they propagate are undertones of vanity, materialism and lust, which I find detestable.

Now, while I've taken some inspiration in a few elements of my own work, it's been a part of my life for over a decade. In many respects it is a part of me, and I hold it very dear.

I'm dead serious, Maooz. I take great pride in my work, and while I don't mind you all teasing in good humor, as a writer I take immense offense to that. You get one warning, then I'm ****ing putting you on my ignore list.

Same goes for you, Sov. And anyone else for that matter. I draw the line there.

Dude, 50 Shades and Twilight are my literary Lucifers. And I vehemently disagree with the themes and influences they've had on entire generations of readers.

Genuine literary criticism I can handle. Comparisons to those pieces of **** I will not tolerate

Professional critics are like savages when they smell blood. If I were to publish something I would have to ready myself for some brutally negative remarks.

I feel like you're putting on.... shall we say.... slight airs of pretension here, DS. By making a big deal out of it, you're just ensuring Sawyer, Parker, Piper and I are just gonna play the Shades card whenever we need a trump against you. You set yourself up by taking yourself too seriously.

Quite a bit actually, in many ways, and thanks to many a forum reader (from other forums, not just here). I appreciate creative input.

Btw, I'm getting around to reading what you sent me a couple days back; good stuff from what I've seen so far, but I want to give it a good read before I make any substantial critiques

I'll be frank with you all. My earliest writings were a hodgepodge of 2Fast2Furious, Hellboy (the first movie, mostly), and Resident Evil. When I look back at my old stuff I'm amazed that I managed to make it so far into those pieces of writing.
