I called it...Jason Lee = Dave Seville in Alvin and the Chipmunks

Kill me now.

How the **** can they make a live action mixed 3 CGI boys with Alvin & The Chipmunks ?

Seriously just how

and me, i want a hoola-hoop.

seriously, though, i have no interest in this... the only thing i remember of the old show is the theme song.

You know, I actually like this idea. Movies like this and Underdog if done in a tounge-in-cheek way could be pretty funny.

Cool I've always loved Alvin & The Chipmunks. Wonder if they will include the Chipettes or just save them for the sequel if there is one? I think Tom Hanks would have made for a much better Dave Seville, I can just picture him calling out Alvin, Simon, Theodore! Plus Tom Hanks sounds very similar to the cartoon character of Dave Seville. Even Tom Hanks as Woody from Toy Story sounded like the cartoon character of Dave Seville.

I smell another Garfield. Good god, the Great Hollywood Rape Machine continues, feeding on the memories of our childhood, steaming ahead...

It doesn't always have to be like that. Look at The Brady Bunch. It was brilliant. Why? Because it knows many of these themes can't hold up today and applied them in a tounge-in-cheek way to modern society. If more of these retro-remake type movies were done in this manner, they wouldn't be so bad. That could actually work really well with the Chipmonks as a boyband being as the music industry is driven by teenage girls it seems.

who really has tha big of an emotional attatchment to Alvin and the Chipmunks ? I'm not saying I'd greenlight this if I was in charge but if you get that worked up about this I don't know how you'd deal with greater and more frequent injustices all the time.

I've got a semi-affection for them at best. I would think watching their best "work" as an adult might be a hellofalot more annoying than when I was little.

I can't wait see Kevin Smith make fun of this. :o

I honestly agree with that. How many straight males nowadays actually were that in love with the Chipmunks when they were little that it would kill them if they went live action? I was a fan of the show and watched it, but I wasn't "Thundercats or He-Man crazy" about them, if you know what I mean.

I'm really looking foward to this movie, but I'll save final judgement until I see a trailer.

It has a Dec. 14 release date, looks like a quick production.

Is Lee's agent really named Gay Ribisi? I know that flies in Hollywood, but I had to do a double take at the end of the article. :o

Dave was always a an uptight stick in the mud. Jason Lee is a total miscast.

I think they're going with the strangely neurotic and sarcastic characters Lee has played in the past. Like in Stealing Harvard and other gems. :o

This will now officially suck.

the best movies based on old cartoons:

Dennis the Menace

Flintstones

Casper

George of the Jungle

The Grinch

Popeye

Um, that's it.

Hollywood, get Gendy Tartakovski to make a live action Dexter's Lab please. Leave alvin and the chipmunks alone. They stunk anyway.

At least someone else besides me liked George of the Jungle:o

george of the junlge rules lol didnt kno it was an old cartoon tho

Yea, I thought Scooby Doo was good too. But part 2 sucked.

I was gonna say the one good thing about this was that Ross Bagdasarian is actually producing{wheres Garfield, I believe, Jim Davis wasn't that involed}, but then I saw that the Garfield 2 director was attached so I take that back:csad:
