I don't see the pivotal spoiler

Anyone who takes the law into their own hands is a vigilante. Superman is technically a vigilante, because he's out there trying to bust up criminals despite the fact that he's not legally charged with the agility to seek out crime and arrest people and whatnot. Hell, there was a whole plot arc on "Lois & Clark" about how the local D.A. wanted to kick his ass for that.

Many of the heroes of pulp fiction, such as Doc Savage and The Shadow, and comic book superheroes such as Batman and Daredevil have at various times been considered to be vigilantes due to their actions being self-motivated, and while generally aimed at the "good" result of bringing evil-doers to justice, being done outside the scope of what is permitted under the law.

I'm not saying that Spidey isn't "technically" a vigilante, but the majority of the public does not see him as such. Vigilante (while not necessarily "bad") is most often given a somewhat negative connotation. Most people see Spidey as a masked defender. A masked hero.

Not to mention the fact that this SPIDER MAN DAY will take place after a lengthy public battle with one or several bad guys!

Vigilante is a harsh word to describe Spidey. Daredevil, Batman? Vigilantes. Spidey? Hero.

100% accurate. Spider-Man doesn't go tracking people down to punish them and exact revenge. He just refuses to turn the other cheek and let people suffer when he knows how easily he can save them. :spidey:

Actually that's not taking the law into your own hands at all. That's being a good sumaritan according to the law. It's not against the law to save somebody's life.

Yeah, because it's not like Spider-Man's ever tried to track down a criminal and then stop them from committing crimes by beating them up and then webbing them up for the cops... oh wait, he does that all the time. :p

I think the only time Spider-Man actually hunted down a criminal was Ben's killer.

Oh, I guess you're right - in the movies, Spider-Man just pretty much saves people from burning buildings and stops cars from hitting kids.

Wow. That sucks. It never hit me until right now, but he IS more of a "good samaritan in tights" than the proactive hero he's always been in the comics.

Kinda makes you wonder why Jonah is so against a guy who just stops kids from being run over and helps old ladies when they're about to fall.

yup. he doesn't normally go searching for criminals, he goes searching for people that need to be saved. especially in these movies. He's never once searched for somebody to bust, he has only searched for victims in need of assitance.

and webbing some guy up for the cops? wrong. he's webbing the criminal up so their victim can get away. He's not webbing them up for the cops. by the time the cops get there it's nothing but a he said she said he said kind of case. Spider-Man doesn't take the time to make a statement for the police and then follow up by testifying in court.

same for batman really. every single criminal he busts almost wouldn't even get arrested.

Jonah's always against him cause he wears a mask, for one.

"What's he got to hide?"

"Masked menace"

Oh, but this is something I know he IS doing, because even in the first movie we see him leave a note for the police that the crooks are "Courtesy of your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man."

Besides, it wouldn't just be he said/she said. Victims and store owners maybe even security cameras could come into play.

Of course.... in the comics, I must note that, as ludicrous as it is, Batman's actually taken the stand as a witness. Heh.

People. I just got some very scary info on Venom. Very scary info, and I'd like to get it verified with people who actually know more then most here. spideyboy, I'm looking at you.

It's about how he looks like, and if my source is right ( he is usually right on but I didn't know he knew about SM3), Venom is officially down the drain in terms of looks. ( It's worse then a Black Spidey).

If it's the whole "Venom will be a shiny sort of dark-purplish tone with veins making up the spider logo on his chest," we've heard that much before.

Is there more? Inquiring minds want to know.
