I actually love DARK EMPIRE, even if it screws up a lot of the post Dark Force Rising stuff.

I liked Dark Empire when I first read it, but upon reflection it's the most unStar Warsy thing I've ever read. It just turned out awful when compared to other things. Mind you, Shadows of the Empire is ****e as well...

Dark Empire had great art, but the story was borderline gibberish. I never felt like Luke ever turned to the dark side. He stood there and glared at people while not sabotaging the Emperor's plans. And the Emperor was happy to be sabotaged.

The art was dodgy as hell. One panel would have incredibly detailed shots of Star Destroyers or ATAT's, then the next would have everyone caked in green looking the same as each other with only clothing to tell each other apart.

My one huge criticism... He gets CLOSE... but nope, not the dark side.
