Well like I said...I really don't think he paints himself, but I stand by my word..if he does then I draw the line there. It's always been one of the parts of the Joker that I loved. Why change it? I don't care, you can call me a whining fanboy or whatever, but granted the persona may be intact, and that's great, but without the physical part of the character it just isn't the same at all to me.

That said, regardless of what empirical evidence we have right now, I am still being a rebel and believing that he isn't just painting himself white. I refuse to believe they would do that with him, I just can't see someone NOT making a fuss about that.

EDIT: I should clarify, I would like for the hair to be green, and not dye. but it doesn't bother really. It's the skin, that's all I care about really.

Maybe it's maybelline ?

The JOKER : Because I'm worth it.

please explain what is so frightening about that. It's a stupid viewpoint, in my opinion.

Let's not get nasty. Pretend we're having a beer and chatting about this.

I'm not in favor of the 'chemical bath' origin simply because we've seen it before. It's been done, and very well. No need to do it again.

Just imagine Charles Manson sitting in front of a mirror applying clown makeup. Giggling all the while.

Then committing insane murders that HE thinks is funny.

That is scary.

I think you mean Gacy, Manson had his "family" do the killings just a lil correction continue your convo

It isn't whether or not his skin is white that makes him scary. It's his total disregard for life, for all that anyone holds sacred, his worldview that it's all nothing more than a joke.

No. I mean Manson. He was cleary nuts and 'Helter Skelter' was his personal name for the armageggon.

That he was going to bring about.

If you've never seen an interview with him, try to find one online. That mofo is nuts.

well in his interview he acted nuts for hours just to screw with the reporter when they threatened to stop he shaped up.

I don't know why you think it takes someone so truly insane to wear makeup and kill people. Any nut can smear on some makeup. But the Joker isn't any nut. He's the Joker, he's more original than your run-of-the-mill "Look at me! I'm crazy and display it by wearing a mask/makeup!" serial killer.
He's not just any nut. It's still the Joker. Exact same personality. Only difference is that actually applies makeup. He's still a killer with no sense of guilt or morals. He enjoys killing. He's a sadist. How is that any less Joker than if hee had simply fallen into chemicals?

Umm, yeah. I'm sure it was all an act.

Like when he stuck the fork in the pregnant woman's belly and watched it wobble back and forth.

I'm sure that was an act, too.

Exactly. Do I really need to bring out that "It's not who I am underneath, but what I DOOOOOO that defines me" quip again? :oldrazz:

Because, rather than being an inhuman monster, he'll just be pretending to be. If he wears a mask, or makeup, what makes him any different than, say, Michael Meyers? Theatricality? Lot's of villains are theatrical. What makes him any different than any of the other comic book villains that wear masks or makeup?

Well if you wanted to debate who is nuts that is kind of subjective. Cause Gacy ate people. Every serial killer is nuts within their own respect. I mean son of sam got orders to kill from a dog

Good to see you mentioned Michael Myers. Is he any less frightening because the mask isn't ACTUALLY his face?

Dude, you totally lost my original point.

A mass murderer lunatic applying clown makeup while giggling is scary. Period. I cited Manson as an example of loony. Period.

Gotta fight traffic now.

Bye.

Isn't that Nolan's job to do in film, to explain why the Joker is an entirely different animal than the rest of the criminals in Gotham. There has to be more to the Joker that separates him from the rest of criminality than his perma-white appearance.

No, but, by today's standards, at least, he's not as original as the Joker.

Plenty of serial killers dress up as things they want to be. How many of them actually are those things?

I'm not going to lie. The white skin IS a very important trait in the character, and one I definitely wanted to see included in the film. However, that said, if the character still looks like The Joker, and acts like The Joker, then there's no reason Heath Ledger can't still be a great Joker.

The white skin is important because when he goes back to Arkham other inmates are going to go oh crap thats the Joker. I think it was an Arkham Asylam comic where he was in the shower and the Joker comes up to him and he is freaking cause its the Joker.

precisely. The makeup/reason for his look is really irrelevant.

Exactly. I really hope they don't go full-out and "expose" the Joker has wearing white-make up and make it a big focus because I want the Joker's past to be mysterious.
