I wouldn't discredit PhoenixFaith. She was sure of what she saw. What I said was, that a roomful of people trumps one person's view of a hand. I don't know how to explain it: perhaps it's more likely that The Joker painted his hand white than it is to suggest that any image of white make-up running off of The Joker's flesh-tone face is A) A figment of anyone who saw it's imagination, or B) actually flesh-tone make-u streaming down from a place where The Joker wouldn't have even applied it.

I'm all for the people who are open-minded, and say "I'll see how this develops, it could go either way." I'm even alright with the people who believe his skin is permawhite. What irks me are the people who are not only adamant that his skin is DEFINITELY white, but treat anybody who thinks it's make-up as if they're idiots. All this "How many times do I have to beat it into your head," and "How ******ed are you that you can't grasp this simple concept", and "all these crybabies won't accept the clear fact that his skin is white..."

I see what you're saying, but I don't think it's as simple as that. I mean, most of what people saw at Wizard World were quick glimpses. Therefore, even a roomfull of people aren't necessarily more valid than a single person in this case. I agree with all other points, though.

I want The Joker to have bleached skin, but in the end, it really doesn't matter. You can say it takes away from the character, and I completely agree. But it still won't matter anything besides to the die-hards fan on the internet. The general audience and profession film critics are not going to say The Joker and hell, even the entire film sucks because Joker's skin isn't perma-pasty. As long as the skin appears white, and hair green, how it gets that way is irrelevant to them. Audience and critics will base it solely off of characterization not how close the Joker's look is of compared to the comics.

Nolan could completely change around the entire world of Batman, but as long as he can pull of a brilliant film, that would be what matters overall. Do you think Cousin Joe and Ebert & Roeper will say "Terrible movie, but it would have been amazing had Joker's skin be permanently white?" Joker's skin is not going to affect box office, nor audience reception, nor critical response. To the masses, it matters not.

Agreed. What matters the most is that we get a great movie and like you I hope he has bleached skin.

Christopher Nolan could come on here himself, and post up an official video blog:

"Look guys, please, stop this fighting. The Joker does NOT have white skin, okay? He has normal-toned skin, and he applies white make-up to his face? Are we clear? you got that?"

And people would still be like "AHA! He's only saying that to mislead all the gullible idiots who believe The Joker applies make-up. Good thing WE know the truth...."

There are only a select few who have rudely criticized the "make-up believers". I don't think it's as bad as you're making it out to be, with all due respect.

You know, when it comes right down to it, I tend to believe Miranda and Anjow more than a roomful of of people who saw 20 seconds of the Joker one time on a (reportedly) smallish screen.

But, I guess we won't know for sure until the movie comes out.

And, OT for a second, how many posts must you get to have an avatar?

Look, I respect both Miranda and Anjow for everything they've provided us in terms of scoops. But like I've said before, NOTHING they've reported is set in stone until we've seen it.

Having said that, I personally do not believe the whole "zipline scarring" thing, and I have trouble believing that The Joker is permawhite based on pictures and set reports we've gotten.

I have to say I do put some faith in what people say they saw at the screening. But if this is the supposed twist, then Nolan would put in scenes or parts of the Joker that would throw us off track.

BTW you need 300 posts for an avvy :)

i dont think Nolan cares enough about reactions to deliberately put in faux footage at a convention for 200 people... The man is currently at the helm of a huge production, i don't think he would concern himself with that.

I don't mean faux footage. I mean that, like any good mystery, there will be hints of something unusual however other evidence will make you think the person is just normal.

I was thinking about this whole makeup issue and came up with my own "theory"- Wasn't it reported a LOOOONG time ago that the Joker would have greyish disfigured skin and would apply cosmetics to exaggerate the clownish appearance? This was said on BOF a LONG time ago before any official pics were put out.

Now bear with me here.

Could it be that the "sloppy" Joker look seen in the recent spy pics as well as the first official shot of the Joker (the close up) could be him with the white makeup, and the pic of him and Rachel could be his real face WITHOUT the previously seen sloppy white and red on it (and the neck and hands being flesh colored from him being in a disguise like in Batman #1)? This could also account for the contradictory reports of some people saying he had white makeup running down his face, while others said the red and black ran, while the white remained.... think about this. In other words, the people that say he is perma white are right AS WELL as the people that say he puts on white makeup... ITS BOTH!!

That's my prediction/theory/whatever anyway. What do yall think? Any input on this?

Yep that's been the theory for a while. The people who thinks he's gonna be perma-white also think he uses a combo of flesh and white colored make-up at various times throughout the movie. We know for a FACT he uses flesh make-up during the bank robbery scene.

The knife...in that picture the white is clearly make-up so I dunno what you're talking about. You can see flesh colours showing through areas where the paint is rubbed of. Flesh in his ears etc.

As crazy as it sounds, this is what happens; He covers his whole body with flesh make-up so thoroughly and realistically it fools everyone. Then he puts sloppy white, black and red on top of that, so he looks like a normal guy playing dress-up.

Yea, except it doesn't even have to be his whole body. Just his head, neck and wrists. We could get one of those OMG he's really white moments from Batman #1 or 2. Or when he takes his gloves off etc, he seems to be wearing them in every scene

What's the name of that disease that causes big white spots on your entire body? Michael Jackson said he has it. Priapism? No, wait, I remember now: vitiligo!

I actually thought the opposite of the knife pic... I thought it looked like he had flesh makeup on and he wiped it off. I thought the white looked more real in that one.

It looks all caked on and amateurish though, nothing like natural, smooth skin. I think their intention is for it to clearly look like make-up, whether that's the whole story or not. The cheeky reveal of his wrist seems planned too

Joker probably applies the make-up at the beggining, then something occurs, and it is permanent.
