What a day.:wow:

OK as some of you may know I live in West Virginia out in the country with woods all around my house. Well today a neighbor down the hollow I live in thought it would be a good ideal to burn some brush near the woods behind his house.:whatever:

Well as it turned out it wasn't such a good ideal after all. He started a forest fire that went up behind my house and on over the hill. I'd say by the time it was all over the fire burnt about 10+ square miles of woods. :wow:

Luckily it didn't get my house or anyone elses house and no one was hurt but I've spent the last 12 hours fighting this thing with 4 different fire departments and other neighbors to keep it from hitting a natural gas pumping station, Or any of the houses on the other side of the hill.:wow:

Anyone here ever have to fight a forest fire? This is my 2nd time doing it. The first was 22 years ago when I was 18. I'm not that kid anymore. I haven't worked that hard in years. I thought I was going to have a heart attack walking up and down that dumb hill.:csad:

Man I'm tired.:csad:

I fought off a hangover today... I'm pretty tired too...

I guess that doesn't count. :csad:

Glad you and your house turned out alright.

Well now that the forest has burned it'll be less likely to catch fire for awhile due to less underbrush.

Yeah, You're right. It was mostly underbrush that burnt, That's why we was able to put it out so fast, If you can call 12 hours "fast". If the trees had cought on fire I'd still be out there fighting it.

If you didn't come home to a six pack and some vag I don't want anything to do with you.

I skimmed and read 'come home to pack the vag'. I like that version better.

Your neighbor is a fool. Were any authorities called?

I didn't see any cops but one of the firemen told us that the guy will get a ticket for starting the fire and a bill from the fire departments for there time and use of equipment.

Man did I get the size wrong.:csad: Can anyone here tell me how many square miles is 100 acres?

If firefighters fight fires and crime fighters fight crime, what do freedom fighters fight?

It's like... .15 something

Dude should get more than a ticket and a bill...

You really can't put a price on that kind of foolishness though.

Well I got the size of the fire wrong but then again when I wrote that last night I was tired as hell, not thinking right and running on fumes.:o

Apparently it just seemed alot bigger than it was.:o

Anyway, We made the newspaper...

Large brush fire reported in Eccles

The Register-Herald

Numerous firefighters battled a Raleigh County brush fire Saturday that authorities said burned 50 to 100 acres.

The fire near Stoots Road in Eccles was reported around 1:45 p.m., according to information from the Raleigh County Emergency Operations Center. As of early Saturday afternoon, 50 to 100 acres had reportedly burned. Several structures were endangered, but that section of the fire was under control.

However, the blaze was spreading elsewhere, the EOC said.

As of Saturday evening, the fire was still burning, the EOC said.

Crews from the Trap Hill, Lester, Mabscott and Coal River volunteer fire departments were at the scene Saturday afternoon, the EOC said. Authorities had also contacted the state Division of Forestry.

LMAO!!!:lmao: Man did I get it wrong. I'm an idiot.:o

I agree, He should get more than a ticket but since no homes was burned I guess they don't care about the land or the stress it put on the people who had to worry about there house burning down.

What got me was the fact that the guy who started it was seen passing a ball with his kid late yesterday evening after the fire went over the hill. I guess he thought since the fire was out near his home it was all over.:cmad:

A forest fire must be easier than putting out a fire at a chemical plant though Superman.
