About two weeks back, during football(season injury:csad:) I broke the metacarpal bone below my ring finger in about three or four places. Now, I have to get surgery for it to heal properly(so it won't be at a complete angle for the rest of my life). I've never had surgery before and I'm very nervous, for some reason -- even if the anesthetic. I'm sorry if I come off as a wuss, but...gah -- I keep having a bad feeling that I'll wake up in a horrible Hayden Christensen film.:o

Hopefully I'll be back in school as early as thursday and live with a splint for about 4-6 weeks then play it by ear...

That'll teach you never to play stupid football again....:o

But good luck. You'll be fine. :D

im sorry to hear that. :csad: atleast your going in tomorrow, so the sooner the better. also dont go in with negative feelings (i.e. ending up like a crappy hayden christensen movie) go in with positive feelings about it (i.e. sacred heart hospital in scrubs). :yay:

good luck

so far i haven't broken a bone in my body

I broke my thumb playing football. It was hanging loose during practice and I went up to the coach and showed him, and said; "I think I broke my thumb coach." It was gross. I went to the doctor and they gave me a numbing shot and they worked it back into the right place:eek: It hurt:( That said, they said if I broke it again then I would need surgery as well. I then had to wear a cast for 6 weeks. So, I quit foozeball.

I wish you well and I know your pain. Good luck:up:

I wish you the best. I am sure you will come through fine. It sounds to me like a pretty basic surgery, and you should be in and out in no time at all. Take care.

See if they can throw in a boob job while you're under.

Thanks for your support, guys -- it means a lot.:yay:

Tomorrow might suck, but they're putting in a 2 cm thick metal plate so my hand will be indestructable by the time it's fully healed.

How did you break it? What position do you play? Because if you are like a kicker or punter and broke your ring finger...wow.

See, this is why I never pick you in P.E. Cause you are a quitter, quitter.

No, I was playing outside linebacker. It was a run play to the "4" hole so I rushed in and tried to block the hole, pick off the fullback, etc. and someone's helmet hit my hand at full speed. Next thing I know, my ring and middle fingers are making a "V" shape. I was doing so well, too. I might've been moved up to varsity. I'll at least make varsity next year and probably start at linebacker and hopefully get a few plays in at tailback and/or fullback. Last year I scored about ten touchdowns at tailback, 3 at fullback and had 7 sacks at linebacker.

I was the center. I wasn't going to get to play with a cast. Cast = no snaps. Plus, not gonna risk surgery for something that I won't care about a couple of years later. High school sports are meaningless when you go to college. If you hold on to high school sports after you graduate, then well:o

I was actually scouted for volleyball earlier this year for University of Michigan. I would love to play football in college, but if I somehow made a team, I'd probably be 3rd or 4th string.

Sorry about Center -- it's an awful position.:o
I'm awful at snapping and getting in a three-point stance every play can get very tiring. After you were injured, did you stay with the team at all or did you just flat out quit? I have to stay with the team even though the only thing I do is refill water bottles. Then, during the games, I get to write both playbooks. Yay....:csad:

Not to mention nearly 90% of the team are *****...think your average jock.

If you are good enough to play sports in college, then it is fine. If you aren't, let it go after high school. I lol at kids on campus wearing their high school letter jacket. It reminds me of Al Bundy:D

I stayed with the team until the year was over. I was out the entire season so it was pointless. I did water bottle refills and all that stupid crap. I was first string center too:( I didn't play the year after that because I had been replaced and so I said who cares.

Why are you still up? Jitters?

Haha, I know what you mean. I see kids in the hallway who still wear their peewee or jr. x jerseys.

Yeah, I'm out for the season and was going to start -- at outside LB and FB --, too. It pretty much is pointless. The coaches say it's good to support the team, but that's kkind of hard when you don't like 90% of the players.:o

I'd just like to go home and chill instead of sitting on a bench 'til seven.

Why are you still up? Jitters?

I slept already from about eight to twelve so I'm not too tired...and I'm still nervous.:o

The surgery's not 'til noon so I get to hang around for a few hours. At least there's a plus -- I get to miss two days of school.

And you get pain killers! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

That sucks dude.

But think of it this way. Do you want a deranged looking finger that goes really stiff and hurts in cold weather? Or a half bone half metal super finger? :D

That sucks. I can't even imagine what a V shape looks like with two broken fingers. So, you're in high school?

I tired out for Varsity baseball senior year. After two days...well...I couldn't take it. But it impressed the coach...who was my weight lifting coach.

3rd or 4th string in football sucks. Only good if you get paid to ride the bench like in the NFL.

Haha yeah, the doctor said my left hand will be indestructable. Look out, next person I *****slap.

Yeah, I was about to throw up from looking at it. All of my "teamates" weren't any help. And yeah, I'm a sophomore in high school.

I played baseball for about seven years. I could've easily made JV last year, but I made Varsity for volleyball so I stuck with that. At least you tried out, though. I hate kids who criticize people even though the closest thing they'll ever get to play on a field is Madden.

Yep, you work just as hard as anybody else, but in the end, it just matters who's naturally better.

You should have grossed out some girls....just cause.

Yeah, I'm interested in playing sports. I usually try to play games of 21 or pick up games at the rec. Basketball games that is. I read that the local Community College has a low level college baseball team. Maybe I try out for it when I go sign up for Spring classes. I mean, it be motivation to keep the grades up, ya know?

When I played Babe Ruth for one summer (between 8th and 9th grade) I sucked. Had one pop out to 3rd. Many strike outs. 1 walk and 1 run. Played left and right field off the bench. Now if I were to play now...I probably wouldn't suck as much, esp in the outfield. :csad: ball came my way...and I was running after it with my head down. Good thing it didn't hit me in the head. And I was told I throw like a pitcher back in Babe Ruth. My aim is bad cause my eyes keep moving...like I can't focus on the target...so yeah.
