I have had a couple of surgeries, one ironically through a football injury myself. However is was my ankle and it required pins to set everything back in place and about 6 months of regular and walking casts, another 2 years of rehab, and a followup surgery a few years later. I also had plastic surgery on my hand to set everything back in place. I was awake through it all and it only took a few minutes. Although it still bothers me from time to time and it looks partly messed up due to severity of the injury.

I really wouldn't worry too much about it. You are going to have a specialist doing what they do best. Plus really this a relatively simple and uncomplicated surgery. Good luck with it anyway.

The surgery went well and my hand will hopefully be fully healed by november. My main problem is that the anestheic made the back of my mouth completely sore so a good amount of the skin is hanging so it hurts to eat, drink and breathe from the mouth.

I had all 4 pulled a few years back. You can't eat, your mouth is sore and bleeds, you head hurts, and you talk like you have a mouth full of cotton. It indeed sucked.

Most of the skin and my uvula are hanging because of the anesthetic -- they put a tube down my mouth.
