Batman Begins I Know Which Lines David Goyer Wrote In Batman Begins.

True, the "excuse me" line was bad because it cheapened an otherwise serious scene.

The worst part of the latter was immediately before when Gordon asked if he was alone, then Batman happens to land the Tumbler next to him. Followed by explaining everything to the audience like we're 8 year olds. Pure cheese. It just can't decide whether it wants to be popcorn entertainment or something smarter

I loved that part, personally. I thought it was something that seemed very comic book-y.

Actually David Goyer wrote most of the dialogue. Very few lines were changed from his draft to the draft Nolan revisioned.

The Tumbler doesn't have a gearstick though does it? To me it's just one of those odd expressions like "rattle the cages" that Goyer thinks is hard-boiled Batman dialogue

Actually "rattle the cages" was one of Nolan's rewrites. Goyer originally wrote: "Someone like you. Someone who'll stand up to the injustice." Or something along those lines.

Yay for Nolan rewrites, too bad he didn't edit more. He really made that line sound better.

the only line that really bothers me is "can you drive stick?" Yes there are other weak lines but they can be said without me wincing

Bad lines-

"Nice ride."

"Nice coat." (when Bats said it, so pointless to have the homeless guy in that scene at all)

Those two almost take you out of the otherwise great scenes. Everything else was fine, I thought.

Some of the lines are terrible but its more the way they are delivered by the actors then the lines themselves my fav batfilms B89 and BR had there fair share of bad sounding lines on paper for instance Penguin saying "you gotta admit i play this stinking city like a harp from hell!" but he pulls it off so it works also keaton as bats in B89 saying "you weigh a little more then 108" also sounds a bit lame on paper but the actors in these movies seem to pull the lines of better then the cast did in BB.

David Goyer Wrote the following lines in batman begins:

Cop: It's a black tank.

Batman Says: Nice coat.

Bruce Wayne Says: Sorry to dissapoint.

Loeb Says: *******.

Gordon Says: just some nut.

ScarecrowSays : you will tell me!

Thug Says: where are you!?

Batman Says: Here.

So, yea Chris Nolan wrote all the sophisticated lines, don't worry you guys didn't heard it from me, just classified me as codename X.

The problem is they are there now and the film has come and gone it really should have been identified at the script stage then one of BB major downers could have been avoided.

I'm probably the only person who really liked the "nice coat" line. I just found it to be the perfect punctuation for that scene.

The real cringe-worthy line for me was Gordon saying "Yes!!!" after destroying the train tracks, and "I gotta get me one of those!" was cheesy as well.

Goyer may not be perfect, but I'd argue that Batman Begins was his best work to date.
